We wanted to try something different for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised with our food. This is a well oiled little establishment in the bustling street of Northcote. They don’t have a lot of seating (just stools inside along a couple of benches) and some tables outside but this all creates the atmosphere. Being here for the first time, We ordered the ‘date night for two’ $46 which gives you a sample of most of their dishes. Totally worth it and the stand outs were the monkey salad 10/10, the hummus dip, the sweet potatoes, the red and green falafel and their bread. Yes everything was incredible and we will definitely be back.

Some of the best falafels I’ve ever had!! I’ve tried both the green & red falafels and they are excellent. I get the pita pockets and they are seriously delicious. The pita is warm, the fillings (and especially the hummus) are delicious, and it’s all accompanied with perfectly fried falafels. The prices are reasonable, the quality is great, and the staff is always friendly. I’ve also tried the chocolate peanut butter smoothie and miso caramel malt smoothie. Both are great but the miso caramel malt was SUPER good 😍 In short, if you’re looking for some amazing falafels I highly recommend this place!

My family and I came to this very tasty Israeli 🇮🇱 vegetarian restaurant serving falafels and smoothies. The falafels were very tasty ( two types ) and baked cauliflower with tahini was great. A carrot hot dog was also very good. Friendly service from the chef and owner Roy and his staff made the experience and drive from Carnegie worth while. Go support this business and you won’t be disappointed. Today / Thanks Roy and team. #israelifood #falafel #humus #tahini #tahina #vegetarian #vegan #veganfood #vegetarianfood #falafels #tasty #tastyfood #yum @tahinabar

I just received an Uber home delivery 🚚 but Uber didn't allow me to comment on my food items, only enquiring if I wish to give the Driver a Tip, which I am Happy to do.

One: the Hommous had just begun to leak out of the container — mainly the oil part. As soon as I came inside, I grabbed a spoon and piled it back from the side, into the container. I doubt it was the drivers fault as I was with him when he took it out of the food Pack on his motorbike and everything was very ordered and neat. He too.

Two: The Zhoug was extremely Hot, (with green Chilli -?) hotter than I have ever experienced Zhoug before, and I not only experienced a burnt mouth but obviously I could not eat any more of it. If you love Chilli hot food, you will love this but I would like to request that the Tahina restaurant warns people about the heat and gives customers the choice to leave it out. *Also the over-roasted Kipfler potatoes.

Three: The extras — that I paid for the Leeks, and Spinach, were not added to my meal.

The meal that I did eat was good and nutritious. The Kipfler potatoes though, were a tad overdone, and I left at least a third-half uneaten.

The egg plant and additions to it were delicious. The Houmous, like I had made it fresh myself. The hard-boiled egg cooked to perfection (i.e.,it wasn't "choke" hard.) These were the items I enjoyed the most. The salad was simple but fresh.

All in all, 6¾ out of 10, from me.

I will try this...

I started coming about 8 years ago. It was amazing. Service was great food was just the best. Now though? Wow it has gone down the dumps. First of all the bread is clear bleached white... Are you kidding me?! It was fantastic wholemeal fresh and soft. This time is white and hard. I just couldn't believe it. How on earth do people put up with this. Then we have the shuit... The beans are cannellini... They were for years navy beans and traditional recipes use navy beans from what I have been told. Then the salads... They all taste the same... The new chefs have no idea what they are doing and the emboss has sadly let this slide. I'm sorry but this is a shell of it former self. The shakshukas tasted of nothing but paprika... Seriously as a Latino we use this stuff heaps but these new chefs have no idea how to create the correct flavour profile. Then we get to the service... I asked is there a surcharge on card and I was told no, then I find there is. Jesus bloody christ this is place is a bloody joke. Hard white bleached flour bread, over salted and spicy salads (never need to add chile to everything) subpar ingredients and final kick in the b#lls it's bloody expensive for what you get. I feel so sorry for new customers thinking this is good... It's absolutely horrendous beyond belief. Just disgusting......

Tahina fills the gap between having a sausage roll from the servo or eating at the Estelle (serious 5 star restaurant) which are only a few minutes walk in both directions of Tahina along high street.

My god, the food here is to die for. Always fresh and the tastes take you back to the days when you walked along the beaches of Tel Aviv and dreamed of peace. Why so much hate?

Anyway, it’s not that. Because it’s High Street, Northcote where people now flock from the other side of the river to find their love or maybe just a new ‘story’ experience (add hash tag here) to fill the instababy hole.

The amount of times I’ve been in Tahina and seen people taking photos of their food is what spoils the food for me. Food was never meant to displayed in a global gallery. The more I bear witness to this behaviour, the more it turns me off coming back. It’s boring, sad and feels empty in substance.

The food here is to die for. Go! Check it out. But if you can’t get there anytime soon, check out the #. You’ll get your taste of Israel...
