Live music and laid back dining. Somehow though the high menu prices and lack of service don't match up to this. Drinks are ordered at the bar and were overpriced. Food is ordered through the mobile phone app which I really hate...so where's the service for the steep prices? We had a reservation of 4 but it seemed like our table was given away to someone else so we had to wait a couple of mins for them to find a table, which I was fine with as it got sorted quickly. Then when our starters arrived we were not given any cutlery, plates or serviettes and had trouble hailing down a waiter so had to approach the bar to get service. The food we had was good although I wouldn't say is excellent as I've had better elsewhere. The steaks were tasty but chewy, said two people in my group. Couldn't really see the food when eating as it's dim-lit, which is fine again if you're into that. Live music is great and all but could not really have conversations with my friends without shouting. All in all, not my cup of tea and will not be returning.

The Wesley Anne is one of Melbourne’s most charming live music venues. Housed in a former 1850s Wesleyan church, this beautifully preserved bluestone building offers a unique and atmospheric setting for performances. From the moment you step inside, you’re struck by the venue’s character—high timber ceilings, stained-glass windows, and thick stone walls that have stood for over 170 years. Originally a place of worship and community gatherings, the space has been thoughtfully converted into a bar and performance venue without losing its soulful, historic charm. I had the pleasure of seeing Demie Bagnato perform her latest release on Spotify here recently, and it was nothing short of magical. The acoustics are warm and clear, creating a sound that pulled the audience into every note. The candlelit tables and wrought iron chandeliers add to its allure, as well as the attentive staff. Only had drinks, hence the 4 stars (can’t judge the food). Next time we’ll grab a bite before a show.

Amazing FOOD!! I give them 5 starts for the food. I ordered house made dips which included, sourdough bread, dukkah, aged balsamie, and olive oil. Also ordered mount zero olives and vegan feta with toasted bread. Wow, both the dished are impressive. It is a shame that we have not taken a clear image of the house made dips dish. The dips were mouth-watering. The bread was perfect. They have garnished the plate with coriander seeds and other herbs which added more flavour to the dish. This was just $12 and worth it. A must try dish. The second dish was full of olive with the seeds. I first thought it is a pain, but it was not really a big deal. The bread was again perfect, and the vegan feta added a creamy texture. The place was exceptionally clean and entertaining with live music. They also have a beer garden with different gigs daily and it is a must try experience. The whole restaurant was filled with good aroma coming from the kitchen and it made me hungry.

Absolutely terrible experience. I visited on 13/07 and was shocked by the level of racism, rudeness and unprofessionalism from the staff — some of the worst I’ve ever encountered.

First incident: I tried ordering tacos, and the waitress acted like she didn’t understand me, despite “tacos” being a basic, universally known word. I even showed her a photo on the menu on my phone, and she said “okay” and started putting it into the system. After several minutes of tapping on the screen, she looked up and said she forgot what I ordered…WHAT!!!. I repeated “tacos,” and she continued to act she can’t understand ‘Tacos’ again, then abruptly raised her hand to stop me mid-sentence and walked away to take someone else’s order. I had to go through the whole process again to show it on the menu on my phone just to get my order in. It was frustrating and humiliating.

Second incident: We had called ahead to confirm we could bring a cake for a celebration, and they said yes. But when we arrived, the waitress handed me the cake box straight from the fridge and refused to help plate it or add candles. Her excuse? “We’re short staffed today, you do it.” The counter was too high for me to manage without ruining the cake. I had to ask another staff member to help, and even then it took forever to bring it to the table.

This visit was meant to be a joyful celebration, but the attitude and lack of basic courtesy from staff...

Total disappointment We thought we would return to Wesley Anne with friends, all order were via their new contactless Covid app, It was very quiet inside so we ordered drinks straight away and they took 30 minutes to come out, no staff members in sight, the food took an hour and they thought it was ok to load up the table bringing the starters and mains all at once! There we no small plates no cutlery and no serviettes for the shared platters, we had to ask for those! When I asked why they thought it was ok to load the table up with entrees and mains that were going cold! I was told “this is how we have always served the food here” it was our 3rd time dining and in the past entrees came first. As you would expect. The care factor was zero. We had a 7pm booking and 1/3 of the mains were not available, not really acceptable. Oh and the water was brought out 15 minutes before we left. We spoke to the manager who just wasn’t interested, if their sloppy careless approach continues, they’ll have no patrons to serve, that’s fine with us, we will never go back when there are plenty other restaurants on High Street who care about...

I've always heard good things about Wesley Anne. I have been once before and I recall that experience nice. However, it was a few years ago. With covid-19, the way things are usually run is different now such as adopting the new menu tap and go. With that in mind, my recent experience was quite disappointing. It took over an hour for the food to come out. It was only until one of my friends had approached the staff to question where the food was and they had replied, "Please allow 1-1.5 hours for the food to come out". In addition, I had given them a cake to care take until the right moment and when it was requested, it took half an hour for it to arrive. Mind you, it had died down by then. So all in all, despite a contactless procedure, the service wasn't very efficient. The atmosphere was nice until the comedic act begun which quite loud and at often times, difficult to hear my friends. We were inside so we'll be sure to sit in the beer garden to avoid it next time. The only best thing from my experience, was the food. It was delicious and flavoursome - shout out to spicy cauliflower and the...
