1 star Hugely disappointing visit. We were so excited to try this new restaurant, but left feeling incredibly frustrated by the whole experience. It was a Saturday night and the place was understandably busy, but the level of service was simply unacceptable. Despite the restaurant being open for only two weeks, there's no excuse for being so severely understaffed. We felt completely ignored and had to ask multiple times just to place our order.
Getting drinks was another ordeal entirely - we had to flag down a server several times before our request was even acknowledged. When the food finally arrived after a ridiculously long wait, it was a letdown. My spring rolls were bland and tasted suspiciously like the frozen variety from the supermarket. To make matters worse, the pho was served with completely undercooked noodles. We had to send it back, which further delayed our meal. Honestly, the entire experience felt amateurish and disorganized. The poor service and subpar food really ruined our evening. Read moreA Taste of authentic Vietnamese in Pho98 Pho98 has recently opened its doors, bringing a taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine to Bentleigh East As soon as you step inside, you're transported to the bustling streets of Saigon. We started with their crispy chicken spring rolls, which had an incredible crunch that truly reminded us of the ones we've enjoyed in Vietnam. The pho was equally impressive, with a clear, flavorful broth that was light yet satisfying. But the real star of the show was the pork chop over broken rice and egg. The pork chops were juicy and flavorful, while the egg was perfectly cooked, with a gooey center. To top it all off, the Asahi dry was served ice-cold in a chilled glass, the perfect accompaniment to our meal. If you're a fan of authentic Vietnamese cuisine and hospitality, pho98...
Read moreUnassuming little spot, expected an okay, “good for the suburbs” sort of meal but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Much better than any of the other Vietnamese places I’ve tried in the area.
Pho broth was rich and full-bodied. Lemongrass pork chops were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour.
Service was a bit rough though - we were there at 5.30pm and there seemed to be only one person working front of house. No complaints at all about her attitude as she really hustled to get everything done quickly. But it was a bit frantic and I felt quite sorry for her especially when it started...
