I recently visited the Racecourse Hotel in Werribee for lunch and had a mixed experience. While there were some positive aspects, there were also areas that could use improvement. The restaurant lacked clear instructions on where to wait and be seated, which led to confusion upon arrival. Moreover, the waitresses I encountered were not very pleasant and seemed unwelcoming.
One particular incident stood out when I simply took a menu and sat down, only to be reprimanded by a waitress who went on about the waiter's station and how menus shouldn't be taken without permission. This seemed unnecessary and left a negative impression. I also witnessed another customer being scolded for simply looking at the menu.
On a positive note, the gentleman behind the bar provided excellent service and was the highlight of my visit. His friendliness and professionalism were commendable, and he made the overall experience more enjoyable.
In order to enhance customer satisfaction, it would be beneficial for the Racecourse Hotel to clearly communicate their seating procedures and ensure that all staff members exhibit good manners. A more welcoming and accommodating atmosphere would greatly contribute to the overall dining experience.
Overall, my visit to the Racecourse Hotel in Werribee had its ups and downs. While the bar service was exceptional, the unfriendly waitresses and lack of clear instructions on seating left a negative impression. I hope that the restaurant takes these aspects into consideration and works towards improving their customer service...
Read moreWent for dinner here last night. Immediately stale cold bread rolls were put out on the table. Kitchen was out of stock of soup on the menu so we ordered the chicken soup which was okay. I then ordered one of the parmigiana which came out dry and a overcooked. Companion ordered prawns on rice. She showed me the rice at the bottom of her plate, it was cluggy and stuck together in clumps. No good at all. There is a long persisting culture problem at the Racecourse. Management aren't doing their job and improving the kitchen, even when customers complain. Was last there 9 months ago, ordered the beef and guiness pie. It was terrible. Hard clumps of chewy meat encased in burnt pastry and a sticky gravy. It was really bad. On that occasion, the manager at the bar took my meal off the final bill. So 9 months since our last visit things are still really average in the restaurant. My companion said 'I won't be back'. I couldn't disagree. Get the culture right in the place, get better management, have someone sit there and taste all meals on the menu coming from the kitchen. Build consistency in your product. Don't put stale cold rolls on the table when a customer arrives, and then do the right thing and replace them with fresh hot rolls only when the customer complains. Hard to believe this place has a 4 star rating. Clearly its not getting honest reviews and instead being reviewed by people with close associations to the hotel and...
Read moreDon't know what all the rave is about. The food is nothing more than just ok. Thursday is steak night with ONE $15 steak which is a 300gr rump... add 3 onion rings and the same steak becomes $20.....add about 3 garlic prawns (they show in a picture) and the same steak becomes $25.
I called ahead to ask what was on the menu (as there wasn't one available online) and a bloke named David made me feel like i was putting him out by making my enquiry. Yes he eventually provided only just sufficient info but it was like 'pulling teeth'.
Upon arrival was greeted with a luke warm reception by an older lady server whom I'm sure was well intentioned though the male waiter refused to even acknowledge us even when he was preping our table for the meal. Place was about half full but it was a decade before our meal order was taken and another decade for the food to arrive at the table....steak was sufficient for medium-rare but almost cold.
Upon paying, my $20 steak option nearly cost me $29 if i wasnt paying attention justified as a till glitch in the bar by the barmaid, unacceptable.
End of the day if ur hungry by all means go eat there but in my humble opinion don't be expecting a 'meal' as you will be only met by mere food. Definitely not worth the 5 stars other reviews would...
