A Taste of Mexico in Werribee
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hecho en Mexico, one of the three Mexican gems nestled in Werribee. This vibrant restaurant, which opened its doors in January 2024, is a proud member of the Hecho en Mexico chain, renowned across Victoria with approximately 17 branches scattered throughout the state.
The standout feature of this Mexican haven is undoubtedly its famous margaritas. Served with the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess, these margaritas are a delightful treat for anyone looking to sip on something special.
As for the main course, we indulged in a variety of dishes. The burritos were an absolute delight, bursting with flavours that left our taste buds dancing. The nachos and tacos were also noteworthy, showcasing the chef's dedication to authentic Mexican cuisine. However, our experience with the Mexi Mexi chips was not as satisfying, as they fell short of our expectations. Despite this minor hiccup, the overall culinary journey at Hecho en Mexico was a satisfying one, with the burritos and tacos standing out as clear winners.
It's worth noting that Hecho en Mexico is a must-try destination for Mexican cuisine enthusiasts. The restaurant's affiliation with the well-established Hecho en Mexico chain adds a layer of reliability to the dining experience. With the chain's success evidenced by its numerous branches across Victoria, you can trust that you're in for an authentic and enjoyable meal.
One piece of advice for prospective diners – make sure to secure a reservation well in advance. This place is a popular choice among locals, and securing a table will help you avoid any last-minute surprises. The warm ambience, coupled with the delectable dishes, makes Hecho en Mexico a standout option for those craving a taste of Mexico in the heart of Werribee.

Read moreFood was poor. We cook better Birra Taco’s at home, we just followed Josh Weismann’s recipe. How did you go so wrong?
Service didn’t exist apart from taking our order and delivering our food. No cutlery (fine, it’s Mexican,) and no napkins. A pile of napkins and cutlery were ready for us on the service bench across the room. We got them ourselves. No one noticed.
Starter arrived. No communication.
Mains arrived. Here is “your meal” and “your meal,” runs away quickly.
As a server, when you deliver a meal, please ask “is there anything else I can get you?” Because yes, a portion of mine was missing. I would have bought this up at any point from then or later however, no one asked or came to check if everything was ok either. This is a standard service check.
End of the meal, plates were not taken away. We got up, went to pay and “how was everything?” We obviously expressed all our concerns. The shy staff member apologised and had her manager? help. He deducted the cheapest thing off our bill without speaking to us or looking us in the eye. We were only trying to give honest feedback and would have paid and left.
We paid, left and will not be back. Even the manager couldn’t...
Read moreWe had a booking, arrived and seated on time. Ordered drinks and meals. Drinks were slow to arrive. Mains came out after about 10 mins and we had to ask where our entreès were. They'd completely forgotten them and we got it a few mins later. Table was cleared quickly, even as we were still eating! We werent asked if we wanted anything else. The place wasnt busy and it wasnt even 8pm. It took ages to gain the wait staffs attention. It was a birthday dinner and I wanted the guest to have her free churro. Normally we dine at Hencho in Yarraville and we've never had issues. On mentioning it was a bday celebration the waitress demanded to know what day her birthday was, even demanding too see ID. Never been asked for it in Yarraville in all the years we've been going. Clearly it was a bday dinner as gifts were clearly visable. We refused to show ID, not because we wanted to be difficult, but it felt very strongly like we (4 middle aged people who are more than able to pay for dessert if needed) were lying and trying to scam them of a free churro that would cost them no more than $2. As I said, never once in Yarraville had we been doubted. We wont be back to Werribee store....
