Red Poppy Bakery — Restaurant in Melbourne

Firstly, absolutely lovely customer service and friendly staff. Can't fault them at all, other than being a bit busy and forgetting some items. However, this was a pretty poor experience which is useful to share for others to know.

I would avoid this place for hot food and best to look elsewhere for a breakfast. Most people coming in order bread/pies/rolls to take away.

Ordered a chicken avocado toasted sandwich. Asked for it to be toasted. Server said it already was. First time ive ever seen a place serve it to you without toasting it. Was sitting in a heat lamp area but was stone cold.

Ordered a roast pork bahn mi roll which didn't have any crispy skin and again fairly cold. Iv never seen a place give you only the meat without the crispy skin. Picture attached. I spoke to the staff and she mentioned that people usually don't want the crispy skin. She was apologetic but it's so much better to just ask, as this is what is expected.. especially if it's on the picture!

TLDR: Don't come for a snack/hot food. Most people come in for the cold foods...

Friendly staff and service, rude owner. My mom had a food poisoning and she literally puked after eating the eclair. I also felt nausea after eating another sweet pastry. i tried red poppy bakery last week, and to my surprise their pies were really nice, so i’ve come back a few times since then.. i’ve noticed some of their staff are rude and give you attitude when asking what you want. i went back again this morning for a pie… when i was about half way through my pie i felt something furry touch my lips, i look down and see a curly hair in my middle of my pie, i pulled it and it was through nearly the whole pie. i also had a hair on my pie a few days ago but didn’t question it as i thought it was my own. after only going about 5 times and having hair in my pie 2/5 times… i would recommend not eating here. staff are...
