We were excited to bring our overseas guests to Ridell's Green at RACV, but left feeling utterly embarrassed by this decision. After waiting far too long to be seated (staff constantly walking past us with zero acknowledgment of our presence), we learnt that we had not been provided with an outdoor table as requested when we had booked. Instead, we were stuck next to an unpleasantly rowdy children’s play area, with a huge TV blaring right next to the table. We had to ask three different staff to turn the TV off before anyone did anything about it. The supervisor told us that she would move us to an outside table once it has been cleaned, but this never eventuated, even after we asked two other staff about it. That outside table still hadn’t been cleaned by the time we left.
We were offered water when we were seated - it never arrived. We ordered some other drinks, and had to remind the staff that we were still waiting for them half an hour later. We sat at the table for over an hour before anyone came to take our food orders.
The food was fine, but nothing special. As we ate, we watched a constant string of customers making complaints about missing drinks, inadequate food, excessive wait times for service, etc. The place was very clearly overbooked and understaffed, yet they continued to invite more customers in.
Overall, RACV provided us with a disappointing experience; a night to remember, for all the wrong reasons. Clearly, having an RACV membership means nothing nowadays. I honestly think we would have received better service had we gone to a...
Read moreThis is the casual dining area at the RACV Healesville Resort. As house guests we stopped by for lunch and were more than pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has an outdoor aspect that in winter is closed in with plastic curtains, but well-heated. It is a nice environment and the staff are really friendly and attentive. The menu is not large, but provides a good cross-section of offerings to satisfy most people.
We started with the house dips, with nicely toasted sourdough, micro herbs, a beetroot dip and hummus, which was a tasty starter. I had the Black Angus beef burger and fries (standard fare I know) but it was good and generous. My wife had the Falafel and chickpea curry, with pilaf rice and naan bread and she said that it was really good.
Worth a mention was the Negroni – Four Pillars Spiced Negroni Gin, Cinzano Rosso, Campari, that was well proportioned and very good. And, it was a local pinot noir for me.
This is a good casual dining venue, good for families and pretty good value - all up our tab was just a lick over $100 for the food and drinks listed here.
A really good outlook...
Read moreFirst time tried this restaurant as we stayed at RACV Healesville. We make a booking for 6 pm & when we arrived at the Restaurant, the Manager said that our booking is for 8 pm. Anyway, they allowed us to dine but we have to seat at the alfresco as inside has been fully booked. That’s ok. We waited for 1 hr & asked a waitress how long our order will come as we saw other people placed their orders later than us but already had their foods served. We were told another 10 to 15 mins. We waited for another 15 mins & then the Restaurant Manager came & apologised saying that they were busy with people who have reservations booked inside & told us that our foods would be next. We waited for another 10 mins & still saw others who placed orders later than us being served. Why the Manager didn’t tell us that it will be a longer waiting time for the foods to be served when we first walked in? We had Salt & Pepper calamari, BBQ pork ribs & Porterhouse steak (kids meal) & chips. Ribs are a bit dry. I can guarantee that we won’t come back to this...
