As a return visitor, I was delighted to return. This is a great little heritage tourist railway. The volunteer staff are great ambassadors for the railway. The journey is mostly through the countryside, and there are pleasant views to take in.

This is a very family friendly operation and children seem to really enjoy the train ride. Parents seem to enjoy the kids absorbed with the train.

The Yarra Valley Railway is a bit over an hour from Central Melbourne and a fairly easy drive.

From a heritage perspective, this is a fine example of a Victorian Railways country branch line. I would be delighted to return at any time. I highly...

The railway station itself and it's location is quiet quaint. We took the train ride from the station. It is a two way ride - the train goes up one way and back the same. The train is more of an old tram than a train. The ride is not really worth the time as there are no scenic places to see from the ride as such. We were hoping that the kids would enjoy the ride, but there is really nothing for the kids to enjoy on the ride. Also, at $18 that ride is not worth the money paid. Not sure why this ride is still operated unless it is for charity. If it is, than I think it's ok for a...

Definitely worth a visit if you are a train buff. The ride in the vintage rail motor it pretty good if short and you can follow the trip and points of interest in a Google maps link. The rail motor is in great condition. Unfortunately the line stops quite abruptly - but there is work going on to extend it. The vintage station also seem really authentic. There are some interesting bits of rolling stock around the station and a tantalising bit of a steam engine peeking out from...

We went to Yarra valley railway on Easter Sunday morning. Luckily we bought ticket online, because The train was full seats. We met special visiter on that day was Easter bunny. Kids loved receiving Easter chocolate from a bunny. A volunteer driver was sat on the driving box. He was explain about the information of our short trip & train. I wished he used microphone so all passenger can hear it. But I enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you for your dedication to all volunteers.

Was great to finally get a ride on here. We were booked on when it first started, but the day before our trip, it was cancelled to fix a problem, we missed out a mnth ago by 5mins, so it was great to pass through on Sunday, and saw station opened, so we got tickets to go on the 3pm run. Last one of the day. Got my son a Vic rail t-shirt. We got 2 t-shirts a month ago instead of a ride, and a bag, tea towel etc. A bit of everything they had really🤣, but worth it.
