Watts River Brewing — Restaurant in Melbourne

Staff are so lovely. Beer is great. Good for kids with a decent play area (although live music was a bit loud for developing ears). Previously I've come here and had vegan pizza no problems. They must have a new chef because despite their menu stating "vegetarian options available" on all pizzas staff informed me there was now no vegetarian options except the cheese pizza and I couldn't even get a pizza with just the tomato sauce because the bases were pre made and "contained milk powder". This would be fine except they really don't serve any other food. The staff member who served us was vegan and was apologetic. Imagine employing a vegan and not even keeping soy cheese in the freezer for this situation so they could have something for dinner. I've got a hospitality background so I know vegan cheese can be frozen for a long time. Doesn't really put a kitchen out to store a bag in the freezer. Also how hard is it to make pizza dough..... it's so easy. Why buy in bases that are full of allergens.... crazy. Other than that, great venue. Just don't expect vegan friendly options I guess. Hi There, I visited your brewery last month and I have to say, after visiting quite a number breweries I was sure that there would never be an occasion that I would get a tasting paddle of beers where I would go back for every single one of the beers in that paddle. Not being a fan of stouts also I was sure that there would be at least one. I was wrong. Your brewery changed that. Every single one of your beers (at least in my eyes and those of the folks with me) were bang on point. We thank you for the effort you have put in and appreciate all of your hard work to be able to create the beers that you do. I just wish they were on tap somewhere around me. That being said as a home brewer I have something now to aim for. Again though thank you for nailing all your beers and not just settling for a couple like a lot of the others do. This place is exceptional! Went with my partner and our 3yo. Great kids play area, for big kids and littles. Kept ours busy for 3hrs Amazing pizzas! We were all happy, omni's and even vegan customisable pizzas and cheese on hand and made it melt and bubble like the real stuff. The live music on a Friday night is awesome! We caught Phisha and he was brilliant. The beers are delightful. Even the stout is delicious and I normally hate stout. Free tea and coffee station for those caffeine addicts. Also, for the women folk, there are also good quality tampons and pads in the women folk toilet stalls in case your get "caught out" there. Bomfires for the winter chills. The staff are really friendly.
