Been to Healesville many times, and I wished I knew about this place earlier! All the dishes we ordered were soooo good~ Each one only gets better! There were only 3 mains available to choose from, but that means less decision making and it is delicious enough. 😋 We didn’t order the feed me, tho 4 of the dishes we ordered were part of the feed me course. If you’re keen on finishing with a dessert, the $80 pp feed me course would be perfect! We had the Zucchini Flowers, Snapper Crudo and Wimmera Duck to start. The duck breast was smoked to perfection (highly recommended). We had some dietary restrictions and so the presentation of the dish was slightly altered specially for us, but it was as delicious! Then for mains, we had the Grouper Fillet with mussels which was very sweet and fresh, and the Gin Pig Pork Scotch which was the bomb! I personally fear ordering pork dishes because it could taste gamey or chewy, but it was so tender and flavourful.

Food was excellent. Great atmosphere. Good service. We had asparagus with buffalo mozzarella, which was perfect. I had beef short ribs (no bones) which was wonderfully tender and slow-cooked with a delicious sauce. Ordered a side of hand-cut chips, but they were more like wedges. Only complaint is the drinks selection. They only had two craft beers, and I selected their "Italian Pilsner" expecting to get something like Peroni Nastro Azzurro - but it wasn't even close. It was a citrusy bitter. My wife tested a number of their white wines, and was unsuccessful finding something non-dry to go with her cod - in the end, she settled for a rose, then promptly stole my beer and gave me her wine. I asked if they allow BYO in case we return, and the answer was no, they only serve their organic wines. Guess we won't be back.

Definitely can't rate this restaurant highly enough. It feels like an undiscovered gem in the Yarra Valley, though I am sure word will spread. We dropped in by chance and were lucky to get a table for two on a Saturday night without booking. The offer of $70 for three courses of this calibre is outstanding value. Every dish punching above its weight for technique, flavour and creativity. We were in foodie heaven from start to finish. Ambience was A+ and service was attentive. Being offered a sample of wine on arrival to try as the "wine of the week" was a smart choice. Ended up buying a bottle for home. That really is how you do it and as Healesville's hospitality footprint continues to grow No.7 deserves to be a destination for anyone in Melbourne!

This was by far the worst food I have eaten. This restaurant clearly is attempting to present as high class however their chef would be best to cook pub style meals. We ordered the raddish as a starter, we thought it was a joke when we looked at the plate. No where ever would I expect to have the radishes taken straight off the shelves and thrown onto a plate with a smear of butter on the side. I can not understand why any chef, any restaurant believes that this is ok to charge 20 dollars for 5 raddish bulbs still attached to its leaves, no effort, absolutely nothing done and just thrown on a plate. The starters they tell us is suitable to share - you guys need to stop saying this, no they are not. I ordered the mushroom and truffle gnocchi, this was the most gnocci I have ever had. It was soggy, there was no flavour at all, I have never eaten something so bland. I struggle to understand how with a creamy truffle and mushroom dish there was zero flavour. The food was simply terrible, the effort the chef put into making the meals was simply terrible. We will never be back and I would encourage others to go elsewhere.

Word of advice, do not just dump food on a plate without preparing anything, I have never been to any resturant that would think this is ok. Who does this? Its not high class, its not fancy, its pure laziness and disgusting that you would charge what you do for ehat you provide.

I dont often leave reviews but wow this was terrible and change needs to happen, I guess its why it wasn't very busy. Locals...

Google Review for No. 7 in Healesville

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 Stars)

Yesterday, I had lunch at No. 7 in Healesville, and as a chef myself, I can confidently give the food my highest recommendation. Every dish was beautifully plated, cooked to perfection, and absolutely delicious. I genuinely enjoyed every bite, and the care taken in crafting the menu is clear.

We opted for the "Feed Me" menu at $80 per head for our group of three. While the food was lovely and there was enough to satisfy, I wanted to share a small note for other diners—and perhaps the owners to consider. The "Feed Me" option included three entrées, two mains, a salad, and two desserts to share between us. If I had ordered these dishes à la carte, the total would have been $184, but with the "Feed Me" menu, we were charged $240.

Additionally, with three people dining, it would have felt more balanced to have three mains and three desserts, rather than sharing portions designed for two.

That said, the overall experience was still excellent, and I can’t fault the service or the quality of the food. I’d simply suggest reviewing the pricing and portions for the "Feed Me" menu to ensure it offers value equal to the rest of the incredible dining experience.

Would I return? Absolutely. The flavours, presentation, and atmosphere were worth it! Just a heads-up to fellow diners to consider ordering from the main menu if you're watching your budget.

Looking forward to my...

Walk through a delightful courtyard, past a curtain of grape vines and into the wonderful No.7 restaurant. Where modern Mexican cuisine, meets an eclectic collection of wines. (Don't expect burritos, this is actually fine Mexican fair) Even as a walk in, we were greeted warmly, and seated promptly. Expect a modern ambience, with classic accents, tastefully done. On offer, an Ă  la carte menu. Or if you prefer, a curated selection of seasonal local dishes. We took the latter, with matched wines. Course after course, each more delicious than the last. Perfectly complemented by the wines. The service was attentive, yet unobtrusive. In between courses, with what felt like as special treat. We were shown behind the scenes, into the expansive barrel room. For a personal tour by the wines maker, who was more than happy to answer our questions. When finally, as a wonderful crescendo before the desert course. A cart bursting with wines from far flung places was wheeled out, and we were given an impromptu wine tasting. Eventually settling on a wine to enjoy with our desert. An excellent experience. Must visit. We will be...
