Rita's Abbotsford — Restaurant in Melbourne

I am writing in retrospect as I have had some months to reflect on the evening I had at Rita’s. Sadly I have given 1 star to the restaurant I was previously excited to dine at after receiving nothing but in-hospitable service. On my 30th birthday family dinner the manager failed to recognise (despite the confirmation email we had) the correct booking number and physically took a spare chair out from my parties bum to force her to stand and question her presence. Not only that but the toilets flooded and we were thrown pizza boxes before we finished eating and asked to leave. Really really good its on the pricey side i hot the gnocci it was $27 but delicious. I went with a large group of people some of my friends had the pizza which they all really enjoyed if/when i go back im deffinatly getting a pizza. I also got a bottle of the ritas hethcote valley sharaz which was $40 if ur 2 people deffinatly get a bottle youll finnish it. It was a really nice light body shiraz low on tannins but it had the classic flavours of shiraz would recomend for people who are wanting to get into shiraz but cant get past the mouthfeel of a full bodied wines. The place was also really nice staff were friendly enough although one kept pulling out a chair we thought he was gonna sit with us honestly we wouldnt have cared like meeting new people but was a bit weird haha but...

Great food, excellent portions, decent wines, average service. While we were genuinely looking forward to making Rita's "our new Italian join", the staff seemed more interested in getting us out the door so the next group of punters could eat and pay. We found ourselves asking for things that would typically be provided (i.e. a set of cutlery missing from the table, sparkling water rather than still, a menu to select wines after the first set were collected, a serve of bread with the mains as per the tables around us) and getting things we didn't want (i.e. repeated reminders the table had to be vacated at 8pm, demands to get our orders in to the kitchen on arrival, glasses that were filled with dust).
