The beef brisket pie at Ruby’s Café was nothing short of heavenly – melt-in-your-mouth, rich, and packed with flavour that lingers long after the last bite. The sausage roll was equally impressive, golden and flaky on the outside with a perfectly seasoned filling that left me wanting more.

What makes it even more special is that every bite is handmade by Ruby herself – you can truly taste the care and love that goes into the food.

On a quiet, rainy afternoon, the cosy café atmosphere was the perfect escape. Just a few locals were tucked away with their coffees, chatting warmly, and one even shared some unexpected lawn-care wisdom with me – a little slice of Yarraville charm you don’t find everywhere.

Living in Bentleigh on the other side of town, I visit this cafe with a friend who lives locally every two weeks for only coffee and the odd cake. I am impressed at the lovely decor and atmosphere of the place, especially the rear outdoor area. But above all I am impressed at the genuinely friendly nature of the girls serving us. We always have brief chats - something I value more than the coffee, which is also excellent! I consider it one of the nicest cafes I have ever visited and look forward...

This was disappointing - $13+ for a cheese and vegemite toastie which was on normal plain white sliced bread that you can buy from the supermarket.. I was expecting sourdough bread or similar for that price! Decaf latte was also not good. Service was lovely! Just very overpriced and tasteless toastie...
