ORDERED: šŸ³ Turkish eggs: za'atar, labneh, fermented chilli butter, poached eggs, spinach & ricotta borek, bonito flakes ($25.00) 🄚 Gypsy Eggs: chorizo potato fry up, fermented pepper romesco, peas, poached eggs, manchego, ciabatta bread ($24.00) šŸŸ Thick cut chips, sichuan chicken salt, chipotle aioli ($10.00) ā˜• Tiramisu latte: lady finger biscuit, mascarpone, cream, double espresso ($10.00) I spent $43.55 here on my portion! Our food was split between two. REVIEW: šŸ’˜ I loved the food. Brunch with middle eastern and asian influence?! Sign me up for this epic deliciousness. Both eggs based dishes were jam packed full of flavour, with the Gypsy eggs more savoury over the Turkish eggs. The carbs on the side (ciabatta bread, borek) were wonderfully chosen and accompanied the eggs well. 🌼 The chippies were fabulous too, a thick cut with an incredible sichuan chicken salt that was addictive. They were generous with their seasoning, that it almost guilt tripped me to have a salad for dinner. šŸ˜‹ āŒ I wasn't a fan of the Tiramisu latte. It read like it had lots of potential, but delivery came off too bitter with its double espresso. Was definitely hoping for a sweeter drink, and the cream could only do so much! ā˜€ The interior is brightly lit, exposed brick and bright wooden decor to keep things casual. It's a very pretty lunch spot that's perfect for catching up with friends. Especially when you can swap dishes so you can try more food!! šŸ˜†

Couldn’t help but hear Tyra banks whisper in my ear as I sipped my iced matcha ā€œIt is so bad, I want to give you a zero, but that’s not possible, so I give you a one.ā€ Somehow it managed to be all the things you don’t want from an iced matcha. It was warm and watery, with little to no ice. I generally don’t mind a matcha that’s not super strong, but the flavor was mostly tap water, with a hint of matcha. And honestly, it was on the expensive side so I would expect it to not exclusively taste like tap. In summary, bland tepid and expensive. Also had a cruffin. It was ok šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø. In the past I’ve had some of the brunch offering at sani and it’s generally been mediocre and this visit just solidified that. There are a lot of other places locally that have better options, but hey, maybe the mediocrity they dish up suits your flavour profile. If that’s the case, bon appĆ©tit! Just a cheeky reply to Sani: Babes you are missing point, the matcha was not good. I’m sorry if that makes you angry but that what was served today. And just fyi when Ive been in store to dine I’ve given feedback about what I wasn’t satisfied with, I just happened to get takeaway today. Happily for both of us I won’t be back! Enjoy your ā€œmatcha de toiletteā€ Also, Might be a good time to consider some PR training. Just a thought. All the best and I’m glad business is good for you otherwise.

We decided to have brunch at this place on a Saturday. When we arrived, only a smaller table was available, but after we placed our order, one of the staff kindly offered us a larger table because we ordered more dishes. That was a thoughtful gesture. However, the other staff member who took our order came back three times to confirm one of our coffees, which left me quite puzzled. I couldn't understand why they needed to confirm it so many times. Regarding the food, the fish burger was a bit too oily for our liking. The XO folded eggs and buttermilk pancake were alright, nothing extraordinary.

A Minimalistic Culinary Journey

Tucked away in a serene corner of the Brunswick East, is a culinary haven for those seeking a unique and diverse dining experience. With its minimalistic ambience and creative menu, this cafe is a true gem that captures the essence of world cuisine like no other.

One dish that truly stands out is their Turkish Eggs, a culinary masterpiece that is a symphony of flavours and textures. The perfectly poached eggs, nestled atop a bed of spinach & ricotta borek, are adorned with a drizzle of tangy chilli-infused butter and a sprinkle of fragrant herbs. The combination of the luscious eggs and tantalising spices creates a burst of flavours that is nothing short of extraordinary.

The attention to detail at Sani is truly commendable. The use of high-quality ingredients, expertly combined to create unique and innovative flavours, is a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs. The presentation is a work of art, with the minimalist aesthetic of the cafe reflected in detailed plating, allowing the flavours to take centre stage.

The menu at Sani is a celebration of multicultural cuisine, with dishes inspired by various corners of the world. From Japanese Eggs to Lamb Tagine, each dish is a culinary journey that takes your taste buds on an adventure. The creativity and innovation in their menu are truly impressive, making each visit a delightful surprise.

The ambience of Sani is a serene oasis, with its minimalistic decor and soft lighting. The friendly and attentive staff adds to the overall experience, making you feel welcomed and well taken care of.

As a food lover who appreciates culinary diversity, Sani has become one of my favourite spots in the city. It's a culinary journey that brings the best of world cuisine to your plate, with a minimalist twist that is both refreshing and delightful.

If you are in search of a unique and memorable dining experience that pushes the boundaries of traditional cuisine, look no further than Sani. It's a haven for foodies seeking innovative and delicious multicultural delights in a minimalistic setting. A true gem for those with...

What is it about poached eggs that’s so hard to get right? I asked for soft runny eggs and was served medium to well done.

I ordered a big breakfast and was served a plate of ingredients squashed together like clowns in a mini. Maybe I should have been happy with the generosity but it didn’t inspire me. Especially as the side of greens I ordered was also plopped on the same plate and they turned out to be the new favorite ā€˜superfood’, chewy kale. Can someone pleeeeaase warn customers if kale is being served. Not everyone loves sheep fodder for breakfast. I’m pretty sure they’re lying if they say they do. Anyway the sautĆ©ed greens was that dreaded curly anti nutrient laced foliage. Umm, no thank you. I also had to send my toast back because it was soggy, as the eggs must have been scooped from the pot to the plate and placed on top of the toast without draining off the cooking water. Why not have a separate plate for the toast? It was baffling. Anyway I definitely do not like soggy toast. After waiting almost half an hour I managed to flag down a lone waiter... where had the others disappeared to? I reminded him about my toast.

By now my coffee was cold and pretty much the rest of the food on the plate was too including the house made unseasoned beans that included another favourite (not) - chickpeas.

And can I just mention that there was something else on my plate called Grandmother’s Ham. It was as tough as old beef jerky and as chewy too. Maybe it was grandfather’s ham. Or leather. I couldn’t be sure. The mushrooms were good but unfortunately I didn’t just order mushrooms.

My husband ordered the confit duck congee. Duck was chewy. And congee resembled a poor version of risotto gone wrong. He was particularly disappointed with the congee as it’s a dish he’s grown up enjoying and I’ve shared with him plenty of times too and that which was served, was not congee. Needless to say we did not finish our meal but paid the hefty price of almost $80. For real.

Could not...

I’m a little bit sad to be giving a 3 star review because the food itself was quite enjoyable.

It was an incredibly delicious interplay of flavors. The XO chili scramble is divine. I loved it. I personally think it had such an original flavor profile. The coach to perfection and the prawns were just so good as well.

My friend got the Katsu, which is huge as you can see in the photos, the biggest, most generous serving of Katsu I’ve ever seen in any cafĆ© I think they doused it with a lot of sauce to cover up any mistakes, but it was also a very forgiving piece of meat and I think that’s what they were going for a lot of sauce. A lot of flavor. Wasn’t too dry as well fried really really well.

Now where Sani disappoints me is in the service. I was greeted by a not so happy front of house. I asked if she had a table for three for which she replied. Do you have a reservation? I said no and she just had this annoyed look on her face and it just made it seem like it was the biggest chore to organize a table for me that I had not reserved. My apologies I did not realize I needed to make reservations in advance for a casual brunch place in Brunswick, but that is for another time. She said well I’m gonna have to make a table for you. You’ll have to wait. I mean all of this was fine if we just drop the attitude because it’s hospitality at the end of the day so I was a bit disappointed to say the least and quite confronted in the beginning. Throughout the service, she didn’t seem very friendly. She wasn’t really hospitable, I’ve definitely received better service from a BP let alone a cafe. Which is disappointing because I really enjoyed the food, but would I come back? Probably not because it puts me off that much to...
