We were a group of 7 and were quite disappointed with our dining experience. At arrival, we were seated at our table and although there were only 2 other tables and 2 waitresses and 2 waiters (busy chatting to each other), we were not offered water or had our drinks order taken until 20 minutes later. Our wine was sitting at the bar for ages before one of the waiters decided to interrupt their chat to bring it to the table. I ordered the wine yet the bottle was presented to a male on the table. I interrupted and advised that I had ordered the wine and the waiter looked at me, ignored me and then proceeded to serve my male companion the wine and then proceeded to pour another glass to another male on the table. Basically, he assumed the men were drinking and the women weren't. I found this uncomfortable and had to specifically ask him to pour wine for both my mother and I. The food was sub-par, particularly the terrible pepper sauce smothered thickly over an over-cooked scotch fillet. That sauce would ruin any decent steak. The items we did enjoy was a zucchini entree and the seafood pasta. Everything else was disappointing. The lighting was bright white. The only wait staff who seemed to work was one waitress. The other waitress and 2 other waiters walked around and avoided eye contact. I wouldn't come again. Food wasn't worth the calories and the service wasn't great.

After reading the response from Sette Bello, I felt compelled to make a few corrections to their response. The information they gathered was not correct. We indeed had to wait for 20 minutes before water was offered to our table and drinks order was taken at the same time, despite only having 2 other tables at the restaurant and a total of 2 waitress, 2 waiters and a non-uniformed lady who was positioned behind the counter who wandered between the kitchen and the counter area. I am surprised that Sette Bello believes this pacing is standard practice.

We do not expect that wine can be served simultaneously as suggested by Sette Bello as it is not reasonable. However, it is normal wine service to present wine to the person who ordered it and to also let them taste it - this did not occur even though it was specifically mentioned...

I went to this beautiful restaurant last night with a good friend and her son. The restaurant offers very comfortable ambiance and welcoming vibe when we step in. Not only is it located in a very convenient location off Springvale Road Glenn Waverley, the beautiful Itallain restaurant is also nicely tucked away to the side off a building off the busy road for easy and safe drop off access and parking,. Once we were offered a seat, we were offered a drink right away !, no waiting involved and the drinks menu was offered at the same time. This shows excellent and thoughtful staff training and attention to details towards customers' needs. The drink list was a good size, not too much information and simple enough with all the essentials. The waiters had a good knowledge of the menu when I asked for a drink , without making the effort to read the menu after a long day of work. The drinks came really quickly, even though the restaurant was already more than half full with other customers. As we sip on our drinks and chatted about what to order for our mains and entree, the waiter then came with the food menu. She mentioned the specials which offered two flattering selections, the pan-seared salmon and a wagyu steak. We end3 up ordering grilled lamb cutlet for entree, duck breast, salmon and a Gnocchi and a side of broccolini for our mains. To our delight, the duck breast was crispy pm he outside, succulent and tender on the inside , served with a yummy tangy sauce and some vegetables. The broccolini was served perfectly cooked dusted with fresh Parmesan and freshly toasted macadamia which totally nailed the taste and texture experience for me. A completely joyful dinner experience! Service was very friendly, precise and all our needs were met at the right time without any long waits. Best of all the pricing is very reasonable with large portions for hungry individuals. Highly recommended for all occasions, such as family dinner, functions or jsut a simple...

Unfortunate had to write this review when the food at the restaurant was amazing. Compliments to the chefs. However the customer service except for the owner was a big fail.

Firstly - When we entered was immediately told off by the senior gentleman server that we were late but there is your table. No one ever speaks to guests that way. I would have appreciated being told that since you’re late for your reservation we cannot accommodate you coz the place is full or it’s late. That would have been understandable and respected.

Secondly - My kids had hardly eaten their meals and hence we asked for a take away container but was told by the young gentleman serving us that he would do the needful. Upon asking for the our take aways at the end, was told there was no take away requested and the lady manager/server on duty took her male colleague’s side who refused to accept he messed up even though I had provided evidence that he had forgotten. She was sarcastic in her apologies. She continuously sarcastically apologised but no mention to make up for the mess up. The young server could not even look us in the eye considering he messed up. Appreciate if you own up as mistakes do happen.

Basically we paid for two dishes that we did not receive when asked for a take away.

Have no idea from where the servers think they can disrespect guests and get away with it. Owner pls take note, as such a culture is bad for business. Restaurants run coz of guests frequent visits, word of mouth, goodwill and service is top priority.

Respect guests and get the same in return. Sadly did not expect this from such a premium restaurant. Left with a bitter taste coz of a few ill mannered servers who are giving the...

I finally went to this restaurant after my friend who went with my family last time said it was great but frankly i was very disappointed. We walked in and my friend said we had a booking, the older staff member said for how many and she said two. The younger staff intercepted and said they already have a booking. I think it just spiral downhill from there. The older staff member took us to our table, took out the seat for my friend but left me to pull out my seat. Whether it was because she was a woman, i thought wow. I had to call young staff member over to order our drinks and then the older staff member came after we signal to come over to order and did not mention the specials yet mention it to every other diner adjacent to us. I had to ask him to consider it. When we received the meal, we both tried to get the older staff member attention yet failed so i had to go over and ask the younger staff member to come over to fulfill my request. Its makes me wonder because my friend and I were dressed casually in comparison to other diners who were more well dressed that we didnt deserve to get the same attention. After we finish the meal, we decided to leave as it got too noisy in there and we knew if we were going to be attended to before, we have no such chance being busy. Good points, the bread rolls were yummy and so were the mocktails. The young waitress gave me another bread roll, which i was really thankful. Honestly, the service was quite average and the older staff member either needs to get some situational awareness training or apply elsewhere that is not hospitality. I work hard just to dine in somewhere fancy but need to get the service i paid for.

I usually love to give great feedback, but can't quite give Sette Bello five stars for our recent dining experience. The food was definitely nice. I really enjoyed the ravioli. However at similar price points we have had food that has wowed us more. The biggest dissapointment was a $10 charge for still water! Can understand a charge for sparkling. But for a bottle that looked refilled (they certainly didn't open anything in front of us), $10 seems ludicrous. I've actually never been charged for still water in Australia, and it kind of shocks me this wasn't disclosed when asked whether we wanted still or sparkling. Either way, it was busy... so they must be doing something right. I didn't feel service was fantastic - slow throughout the night. It took about 10 minutes to be given food menus (we did arrive about 5 mins prior to our booking though). Overall it just felt like a bit of an awkward dining experience - not a fab way to celebrate an anniversary. Edit in response to owners comments: When the wait staff asks you when you sit down "would you like still water or sparkling water?", without any offer of tap water, this feels very misleading. Your statement is incorrect - no water was served to us prior to being asked this question. We've dined at many restaurants with this phrasing (still/sparkling) before and never been charged for a $10 bottle of water. Furthermore, as mentioned, no fresh bottle of water was opened for us and very much felt like a refilled vessel. Each business is entitled to run in their own way, but this is just my feedback on the experience.

Sette Bello used to have a fantastic reputation as a fine dining Italian restaurant in the South Eastern Suburbs, as I remember it from years ago. We revisited (for the first time post covid) a couple of weeks ago. It was such a disappointment! The standard seems to have dropped immensely, rather nose dived. The reservation staff was just not trained, it was as though they were overseas students as they didn’t seem to know much about anything and could not explain much. On arrival, The menu looked very promising as before, friendly service, however the presentation of the food was a let down, the cutlery and tongs were cafeteria quality, the drinks were tiny, the serves were so small and obviously stingy. I ordered a rib eye steak and asked for it to be medium rare and what I got was so over cooked that a chain saw should have accompanied it instead of a steak knife. My jaws were actually tired as if I’d been to the dentist. Fine dining venues take pride in their food, service and facilities to have top quality throughout, from food to crockery to napkins to the hand wash products in the wash rooms. The level of hygiene in the wash room was poor, the soap was cheap and detergent like and the $5 tiny bin had seen better days and was a dead giveaway of skimping on quality. Has it changed hands? The refinement was just not there, it seemed as though a fine establishment was run by canteen management, there was no finesse. It just seemed off and the only thing fine dining were the prices. Such a disappointing dinner, was not expecting that from Sette Bello.
