We were a long time customer and we always bought a coffee here when we came to Doncaster but not anymore, this time we had bought we bought some cakes from another store and popped in to get some take away coffees to have the cake and coffee in the car but then but our 9 month daughter was then hungry. We took a seat to feed her and have our cake and coffee while we fed her and a staff member came up to us and said we cannot have our cakes as we didn't but it from them, I understand that ethically you're upset as we didn't give you more business this time but we still bought coffee and were still customers, I looked around and there no signd saying we couldn't and that other people were doing the same. It is not against any law to do this you just prefer us not to.
I find your attitude very rude and as a result all you have achieved is that we will not return at all. There are plenty of nice places to get a coffee at doncaster like degani or coffee club.
below edited after owners reply
your good customer service??? You're arguing with a customer on a review, most places would just apologise and try to win a customer back but this proves how pathetic your customer really is, I wonder what shingle inn head will office will say emailed them to find out with a screenshot of your reply.
what are you on about our baby having a box of cupcakes and coffee? Are you an upset teenager? Very childish. The baby was clearly having milk when you brought our coffee over.
your rule? See the thing about rules is other people need to know them you have no signs up or not telling anyone
this argument is what I normally expect from a uneducated cafe waitress next time just bring my coffee and...
Read moreI ordered “a large oat latte with one sugar”; something I have ordered almost every day for the last 5 years. Upon tasting it, it tasted very “milky”. I went to the register to ask if it was oat milk and was told “no that’s full cream milk”. I said “oh I asked for oat milk…”. The manager came over (who wasn’t there when I ordered), and told me “oat milk is extra”. After paying $7.90 for a latte I was shocked that oat milk would cost MORE than that, however as someone that has been vegan for 5 years, I am aware of the extra cost.
The owner told me “our servers ask you to repeat your order and as we have full cream here, that’s what you ordered”. I assured her I was not asked to repeat my order to which she reiterated that they did.
I told her I didn’t want the drink and went back to my seat. About 20 minutes later, the server brought over a small oat latte and apologised, and the manager was glaring behind them.
How much does it actually cost to make a full cream latte or even an oat latte that this error couldn’t have been rectified?
I really liked the environment there and would have been happy to frequent the café as I work remotely often. It’s a shame considering a replacement coffee would still ensure revenue was made.
In response to Louise: I have never paid more than $6.80 for a large latte, ever. So the fact that it was almost $8 (!!), which is exorbitant, I believed it was Oat. If Oat is extra, do you seriously charge almost $10 for a latte?!...
Read moreWill never come here again. We went to the Shingle Inn in Westfield Doncaster and first of all, the decadent hot chocolate is frothed milk with the kind of store bought syrup you would find on kids ice cream, not melted chocolate, and was sickly sweet.
I ordered the eggs benedict, which was toast covered edge to edge in sliced ham with "poached" eggs. The tasteless eggs were boiled right through, dry and hard. The cashier offered a choice between hash browns and something else, implying they were part of the meal with no mention that it cost extra or that the one hash brown was even smaller than one from McDonalds.
The $18.90 "healthy start breakfast" included dried out spinach, 2 cherry tomatoes, a few tiny mushrooms and the baked beans were obviously spooned out of a can, cold, and only one spoonful mind you.
We also ordered raisin toast with butter, which was served with a single fork for some reason - unsure why I was expected to butter toast with a fork instead of a knife.
This atrocity came to approx. $50 - for a price like this, I expected much better quality from both the food and the people. Nobody asked us how the food was... I...
