I recently visited Sushi Jiro Sushi Train and had one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever encountered. What started off as a regular sushi train meal quickly turned into an absolute nightmare when it came time to settle the bill.
The staff tried to scam us by overcharging for the number of plates we ate. We were initially handed a bill that was higher than what we expected, so we asked for a recount. The server gave us a condescending look and claimed that the total was accurate. After politely pointing out the discrepancy, they refused to believe us, insisting we must have miscounted.
Things escalated when we realized they were unwilling to take our word for it and decided to check the cameras to verify what we were saying. The fact that they had to resort to checking footage just to confirm how many plates we ate was not only ridiculous but also incredibly insulting. Imagine being treated like a liar for simply wanting to pay the correct amount!
After an unnecessarily long wait while they "reviewed the evidence," they finally admitted we were right. However, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of their mistake, and no offer to make up for the inconvenience caused. We were left feeling completely disrespected and unappreciated as customers.
This is not how a business should operate. Trying to squeeze extra money out of customers and then doubting their honesty is beyond unprofessional. If you're looking for an enjoyable and honest dining experience, I highly recommend steering clear of Sushi Jiro Sushi Train.
Needless to say, I won’t be returning, and I hope others are cautious if they choose to dine here. There are plenty of other sushi places out there where you won’t have to deal with such...
Read moreTLDR: customer put unwanted plate back on the train. We took it off and the supervisor placed it right back on the train. Unsafe covid practices.
While having dinner at Sushi Jiro in Westfield Doncaster, my partner and I noticed that someone had ordered food, had a little inspection then used a cover from one of their previous plates to put it back on the train. When the plate that had been put back on the train came around, we took it off and notified one of the staff. However, after that staff member consulted with the supervisor, we noticed that the supervisor herself had placed the same plate back on the train.
After seeing that, we asked to speak to a manager hoping to express our concerns but there was no one higher ranked than that supervisor. Throughout that conversation, the supervisor dismissed our concerns and had said that that their policy was “as long as the customer doesn’t touch the food, it is fine to put it back on the train”. While this might have been okay pre-covid, this is now not an acceptable practice, particularly as covid is highly transmissible through surfaces.
Even after expressing our concerns, the supervisor seemed very reluctant to address the issue.
I would not recommend going here if you have not had your full vaccinations, or if you have young children that aren’t eligible.
Poor service, poor etiquette. Would...

Customer Service 4/5 *Greeted, served professionally and corteous. No issues here.
Food 1.5/5 *Huge fan of Aburi Sushi *Every single Aburi Sushi in this sushi train, despitr ordering fresh from the tablet, all came out cold. This is not authentic Aburi Sushi. Aburi is when you torch the sushi. These are all cold. Why? Reason is because they pre torched it. What's the point?? Huge disappointment. *The only thing that's fresh here, is when you order an item with something crispy on it, then they fry it. Why wouldn't you bother with torching the Aburi fresh??? *Some score goes to the other cold (pre) prepared sushi, they are decent.
Value 2/5 *About $5 to 6 average per plate, if you cut out the Aburi Abominations of a wonderful otherwise Japanese Sushi train culture, it's decent. But if you pay for Aburi, you expect to get flame torch Aburi Sushi, not Refridgerator cold torched sushi..
Atmosphere 5/5 *Sushi train is always good no matter where, especially when you get the train thst brings the sushi to you! Too bad the Aburi is a massive let down.
Overall Would come here again for the other menu items, but I warn everyone not to get the Aburi Sushi. Management needs to stop embarrassing Japanese culture in Australia via Sushi Jiro. Please message me when you flame torch Aburi Sushi again and the review shall be...
