Not the experience I had hoped for. Key negatives from today's visit:

The Amritsari fish was not fresh and one could clearly smell the fishy smell associated with fish just about to go stale. It had clearly been in the freezer for a week and had definitely not been fried/made to order either. I'm quite certain it was fried earlier in the day and was simply microwaved and served to us. The batter was bland and very dry, another sign that it had not been fried at that time. I know how it should taste as I've had better Amritsari fish elsewhere and regularly make it at home as well.

The prices on their website don't match with the printed menu prices at the premises. The venue prices were higher which is misleading when you are planning on selecting a restaurant for dining.

Lastly, my family and I saw a mouse run across the restaurant floor and towards the kitchen. One of the male waiters tried to raise an alarm but another female waiter promptly hushed him so that other customers don't notice. So much for hygiene!

Key positives: Egg fried rice, noodles and chilli garlic...

Disappointing.

I don't usually leave any bad review but I am very disappointed with the food which was purchased from here today. Spending nearly $80 for 4 dishes and naan bread we were expecting a nice meal. After reading all the glowing reviews we purchased the Goat Biryani, which was oily, and only had 3 small pieces of very dry meat. The Butter Chicken which was bland. And we wanted some vegetarian dishes which was limited if you didn't want paneer. So we had the Veg Makhanwala which consisted of what appeared to be frozen vegetables with a very average sauce. Unlike any other Makhanwala sauce and beared no resemblance to the Butter Chicken we ordered which by definition of Makhanwala should have been the same. Other than that we had the Aloo Kashmiri of which the sauce was split and Garlic Naan which appeared to have forgotten to add the garlic.

I leave this just so maybe the next person may not be fooled by the glowing reviews which have been left here. Maybe this was an off day for the restaurant but for us was a total waste of money and we did not finish any of the food which...

We had ordered three items: Chilli Gobi (dry starter), Gongura Paneer Pulao, and Chicken Fried Rice. Despite clearly requesting the starter to be dry, it was served wet, resulting in soggy pieces that were quite disappointing in taste and texture.

The Gongura Paneer Pulao was overly bitter and lacked a sufficient quantity of paneer pieces, which affected the overall balance of the dish. Additionally, instead of Chicken Fried Rice, I was mistakenly served a Vegetarian Fried Rice. When this was brought to the staff’s attention, they responded with noticeable attitude and a lack of courtesy, which was quite unprofessional. Even when the correct dish was eventually served, the quality of the chicken was subpar.

Moreover, the cleanliness of the establishment left much to be desired. The place was unhygienic and had a strong, unpleasant odor reminiscent of a fish market, which severely affected the dining experience.

Overall, the food, service, and ambience were all...

Hits all the right spots! After craving some ‘food from home’, we found this new place nearby. How luck were we!!! Clean, welcoming decor, lots of natural light through the large windows and the greenery from the ceiling adds a nice touch too. Pani Puri were hands down the best we have had around Melbourne. The puris are perfectly rounded and actually made in house. This is a true burst of fun and frolic in your mouth. The wife loved her Pav Bhajji and said it was the best she had eaten yet...outside on Bombay. The pav didn’t bring back memories of home but no complaints there. The Triple Manchurian Fried Rice was a real blast from the past. Flavourful, fresh and loaded with chicken and egg...no scrimping here at all. Service is quick, efficient and with a smile. Absolutely wholesome experience and really happy to have this fabulous restaurant in Melbourne’s outer west!

This is a late post. We went to Simply Indian on my birthday in the first week of November. This was our first time at Simply Indian. The ambience was good, the staff was courteous and the service was commendable. As it was our first time we were not quite sure what we wanted to order but we ended up ordering butter chicken as our daughter loves that. We ordered lamb awash, it was good. Our 4 year old son loved and so did we. It was a little spicy although we asked for mild. I wouldn't say it was spicy but could even mild feel spicy for kids. He kept drinking water and still enjoyed the lamb. Ordered seekh kebab, I would say it's the best but not bad. Others might enjoy it. Chicken lollipop we ordered - kids loved it as it was fried. Then we also ordered dosa and vada. It was worth the amount we spent as the quality and quantity was awesome. We left the place satisfied.

Simply Indian in Hoppers Crossing has consistently impressed me during my six visits over the last two months. The fried rice is exceptionally well-prepared, offering a delightful taste. The lamb dish is visually appealing and lives up to its delicious appearance. The Chicken 65 is a standout, providing a flavorful experience. The combination of Jeera rice with Dal is commendable, consistently delivering a very good taste. However, there's a slight inconsistency with the preparation of the Chicken 65, varying between pleasantly dry and, occasionally, a bit off. Maintaining the consistency in this dish would elevate the overall dining experience. Despite this minor hiccup, the restaurant's ambiance and the delightful presentation of starters make it a recommended choice for anyone craving a satisfying Indian meal.
