Updated: 11/4/2024: Ive ordered countless times and spent possibly over $4000 from here and now it’s time to review my review.
Food: The food is nice, but its always inconsistent. It’s so hard to talk highly of the restaurant and when the food comes its different than what you had before.
Food is ever changing and proven in previous reviews. If you order a curry, and then order the same curry from one of their deals - guaranteed it will look different. The quality is different.
SERVICE: The owner himself is friendly and quite diplomatic when you have issues. He will always take what you have on board and improve - Gold Star for him.
The female staff are friendly and approachable. Gold Star for them.
However, without any personal bias, I have observed their staff member - Rohit talk to customers face to face and on the phone. wow…..WOW. He might be a cook and a valuable asset to the restaurant, but if you want your customers to have a pleasant experience from start to finish - get him to stay in the kitchen as a cook and be away from all human contact.
He is an extremely rude person over the phone, and in person at the counter. Again - he might be a good cook.
Despite us still ordering from Spice Nation as it’s been our favourite since December 2018, we order from another Indian restaurant. I am informed of every experience when food is ordered by selected customers. For their feedback, they are reimbursed.
Conclusion: A new star for Food, and Atmosphere. Still a 1 star for service. Overall rating...
Read moreHi, We ordered three items: Chole bhature, malai chicken wrap and lamb biryani. I simply disliked all food items, the chickpeas were super hard and not boiled properly- full of gravy and nothing like chole bhatura style, there was so much flavour of coriander which was nice but no other flavour. The quantity of chickpeas was worst. I am an Indian and hate when people claim to make good Indian food in overseas but failed to do that. I am highly disappointed and would never order food from here. The malai chicken wrap was like gravy wrap, it had rocket leaves in it (lol, who puts rocket leaves in the name of salad in Indian wraps, you have so many other options of coriander, onion, tomatoes, cucumber but please don’t put rocket leaves in your Indian wrap and give wrong impression of Indian food. I am not a food critic for Indian food, just being honest as I love few places like Tandoori den, Saffron house but this place was just upsetting. The lamb biryani was mushy and soggy unlike how a BIRYANI should be and lamb was chewy and had no marinated flavour. Extremely disappointed and I hope the serve the right taste of Indian Food and not make India look like no flavour, raw and mushy cuisine. It’s one of the most amazing cuisine in the whole World. The delivery was fast and food was hot/fresh. Cheers, Have a...
Read moreI’ve been to this restaurant several times before, and the food has always been consistently great. Recently, I had an experience that made me appreciate the team here even more.
I ordered butter chicken on rice as usual, and while eating, I noticed what looked like a piece of hair in my food. I informed the staff, not because I was angry, but just to make them aware. They took the concern very seriously and immediately offered to replace the dish, even though I wasn’t expecting anything.
When they brought the new plate, the staff kindly explained that after double-checking, they found the item wasn’t hair at all but a fiber from one of the ingredients. I completely understood and actually felt relieved. I really respect how they handled the situation: taking the concern seriously, checking thoroughly, and at the same time, standing by their kitchen when they knew they had done things right.
It’s rare to see this balance of great food and strong work ethic. As someone who has worked in hospitality before, I know how easily some places can get defensive instead of listening. But here, they showed respect both for themselves and their customers.
Thank you for setting such a great example of hospitality done right. I’ll definitely keep...
