Minamoto Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

Went during 50% off promo, tried prawn ramen and husband tried poke bowl. While the staff was very friendly and accommodating, unfortunately I have to say service rating is deducted a lot because my ramen took ages to come out, literally like 35-40 minutes after ordering. Poke bowl came much faster, but because how slow the ramen was, my husband finished his food long before my food came out. He said poke bowl isn’t very nice, very basic ingredients and sauce. My ramen was ok, needed chili flakes as the broth isnt very flavourful. I still enjoyed it though as it came with egg. The prawns are nicely crumbed and crispy, very light. In general a nice meal but if I have to pay double the promo price, I would say it’s not worth it. If you pay $20 sth for a ramen, you would expect the broth to be amazing. Drinks are ok, watermelon soda was like soda with sweet syrup. My hojicha was tea bag but tasted nice. My colleagues and I came here just before 12pm on a Wednesday. The shop currently has a May $10 & $12 meal deals. We had the Kaarage Ramen and Poke Bowl.

The chicken kaarage was very crunchy and soft. While the ramen was tasty, the soup wasn't hot enough and maybe there was MSG because I was really thirsty and parch after the meal. The serving was very generous for $10.

The poke bowl had raw salmon, good serving of rice too but it is $12. My colleague who was a celiac had this dish. The royal milk tea was tasteless, more milk than tea so avoid that.

The place is quite tiny, maybe about 6 four seater tables and the table next to us could hear our every conversation. Bit of a squish moving in and out so I didn't attempt to put my jacket on inside the restaurant otherwise I would have hit the other customers.

SUCH A BAD Japanese place, I love Japanese foods in general. But this is most disgusting place I have even been to, firstly I have order a pork curry rice, the pork smells, the pork itself fallen apart from the crumbs, the rice was extremely soft, as soft as freaking congee. It was disgusting.

Secondly, as I saw they have the daifuk (for who doesn’t know what that is, they are mochi with ice cream inside) on special buy one get one for free, so I would like to give it a go and try. But for a normal Japanese daifuk, it definitely doesn’t look like thisX so this is a absolutely NO to order everyone.

Lastly, when the Uber drive delivered my foods, I was shocked that they put my hot foods together with the cold foods. Therefore my ‘daifuk’ ice cream was melted and it was warm.

In conclusion, this is a terrible place. Do not recommend this...
