Santuccis in Camberwell is a hidden gem that truly stands out in the food scene. They boast a distinctive ethos that revolves around several key elements, making it a delightful place for a satisfying brunch experience.
First and foremost, their specialty coffee selection is simply outstanding. The aromatic brews transport you to a world of flavour, offering an ideal kickstart to your morning. The frothy oat flat white with caramel was a personal favourite, striking a perfect balance between smoothness and a hint of sweetness!
The menu at Santuccis is a fusion of healthy ingredients, and they excel in creating unique combinations that are both visually appealing and packed with taste. The Pumpkin, Sweet Potato & Creamy Corn Fritter was a harmonious blend of flavours, adorned with poached eggs, roquette salad, and a delectable saffron mayo.
Their Dark Teddy French Toast is an indulgent treat, featuring dark chocolate teddy ice cream, seasonal fruit, coffee mascarpone cheese, and a poached pear, all drizzled with a zesty lemon citrus syrup. A must try for any sweet tooth and it has been their best seller of the last months!
The Island Super Vege dish is a veggie lover's dream, an artful medley of fresh ingredients, including smashed avocado, sautéed mushrooms, roasted sweet potatoes, and roasted spiced beetroot hummus with crispy kale. It's a dish that leaves your taste buds in awe and I personally loved it!
And for the health-conscious, the Summer Mango Smoothie is a refreshing blend of mango, passionfruit, and nectarine, a perfect thirst quencher with a tropical twist.
What sets Santuccis apart is their warm and welcoming attitude. They even welcome furry friends, making it an ideal spot for dog lovers. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is remarkable, and the service is exceptional. Santuccis is more than just a brunch spot; it's a culinary heaven for anyone who appreciates inventive dishes made with...
Read moreHow the mighty have fallen. Santucci’s used to be an institution in the area, but after changing hands a few times, it seems to have fallen very far from grace. We used to come here years ago, and always had a soft spot for the place, but it’s just not the same anymore. The vibe has gone entirely, the place is messy and dare I say unclean, and the food…more caff than cafe. Santucci’s used to be famous for their chips (among other things) and the minuscule serving I received with my burger was more than enough to let me know they’re not what they used to be. The burger itself was…fine. Again, not what I expect from what was a cool cafe. More a greasy spoon. The kids burger was passable, though came with literally nothing else. Very weird. The green curry was odd. It was like it was sitting under heat lamps for a long time, and came served with the same (or very similar) crumbed chicken on top. Which I’m told was dry and overcooked. All of this explains why every other cafe in the area was full to the rafters, and this place was three quarters empty. Honestly, I knew things wouldn’t be the same as they used to be, but I didn’t expect them to fall so far. It may be the same building, it may be the same name, but it’s not the same Santucci’s. Which is kind of sad.
Reply to the restaurant’s comment: While I appreciate the reply, it’s disingenuous to suggest my review was judging you “unfairly”. It’s a fact that both Harvest Blend and Ivy Lane were fully booked at the same time and day that we visited Santucci’s. And the decline in quality I mention in my review is my observation from personal dining experience over many many visits. Admittedly, it’s been quite some time since we’ve been there, but that just highlighted the...
Read morePrepare to be transported to a world of culinary wonder at Santucci Café! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warmth and charm that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. Let me start by raving about the Dark Teddy French Toast ($27.8) – it’s not just a dish, it’s a work of art. The presentation alone is enough to make your mouth water, but the taste? Divine doesn’t even begin to cover it. Each bite is a symphony of flavors and textures, with the icy cream teddy bear adding a whimsical touch that elevates the dish to new heights. And the best part? It’s not overly sweet, allowing the natural flavors to shine through.
Now, let’s talk about the coffees. Santucci Café takes their coffee seriously, and it shows. From the first sip to the last, you’re treated to a rich, robust flavor that’s sure to please even the most discerning coffee connoisseur. And if you’re in the mood for something savory, I highly recommend the Chili and Chorizo Scramble ($25.5). My friend couldn’t stop raving about it, and for good reason – the flavors are out of this world, and I couldn’t get enough of the refreshing Watermelon Smoothie ($12). It was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and the ideal complement to my meal.
But it’s not just the food and drinks that make Santucci Café special. The ambiance is equally enchanting, with a back room that’s straight out of a storybook. Complete with a charming little library, it’s the perfect place to cozy up with a book and savor your meal in peace. Trust me when I say, Santucci Café is more than just a café – it’s a magical experience you won’t...
