We had a wonderful milestone celebration lunch for 22 people at Prohibition Food and Wine on Sunday 4 Aug. The adults had the banquet menu (shared plates) and the 2 children ordered from the kids menu. The food was amazing...very tasty and generously portioned....the guests raved about it and enjoyed very much (even the two elders who don't usually have adventurous taste buds enjoyed it). We even had some very delicious sauteed greens for the entire table with the chef's compliment in addition to the potato bravas from the banquet menu (as the birthday gal doesn't like potatoes. It's a small gesture that went down really well with the entire table). We were all stuffed to the max! The top 3 dishes of the banquet were the lamb cutlets (we wanted more! so tender and juicy), the napa cabbage and pear salad (the tasty candied walnuts really made the dish popped) and sauteed green (what magical dressing is it...lots of butter and a touch of sambal/chilli? absolutely gorgeous). Even the 2 kid's dishes of cheeseburgers and grilled chicken were generous and went down well with the munchkins (one of these has an adult-sized appetite!)
Guests ordered continuously from the drinks menu ...cocktails and mocktails, liquor, wine, beer and hot drinks...we indulged and were not disappointed with the extensive choices on offer. Service was attentive and prompt - we kept the young lady server hopping, the barman coming out from the bar to bring us drinks a few times and we even had the nice manager helping attend to us. Thank you to the team at Prohibition for providing such a great venue, wonderful attention and lovely atmosphere for a memorable celebration!
A special mention to the customer service received prior to the day as well, with many emails exchanged in answering queries, providing confirmation and especially for allowing us to bring in a birthday cake and 2 platters of our own culturally significant dessert bites to celebrate the day. We also requested specifically to stay on after lunch service for catching up with guests as we had interstate guests who had flown in. All requests were catered for, no problem at all. All these add up to a lovely day and are very much...
Read moreIt was our first visit to Prohibition Food and Wine last weekend, and I definitely think I'll go back for sure. The food was lovely and the staff were friendly and they handled a bad situation quite well ... Initially everything was going smoothly; the food came out promptly etc. But then when the mains were due to come out, there was a hefty delay and other tables received their orders before us who placed ours before them. Then ours came out in drips and drabs. I figure the waitress might have forgotten to place our order, however, before we got upset that this was taking so long, they already offered us a round of complimentary drinks. When the food eventually did come out, it was all delicious. I must say, some of the items are a little pricey for what you get, but the taste made up for it. Their cheesecake was one of the very best I've had, but looked different to the pics on social media, and was pricey for the small size. When we went to pay the bill, they took 10% off also to make up for the inconvenience, which goes a long way with me. The good will they showed us, meant that they were genuinely sorry, and I'm very happy to go back again. I love their varied menu, and again, everything was really tasty. I loved the decor too, and parking was easy enough. I think overall, it's a great place for dinner with friends or family and though they got quite busy, it wasn't excessively noisy, which I also like. Happy to recommend eating here, as it became a good...
Read moreWayne (the owner) and William (the head barman) are both wonderful and fantastic to deal with. The food here is really great and cocktails are outstanding. We had my wife's birthday here a year ago in the private dining room. It is the old State Bank vault...!!! What a great experience with fantastic service and a really good set menu. This is a really great place for lunch or dinner, or even to drop in for a few late drinks as we did tonight. So an update 27/9/25 Will , our wonderful barman has left .... Wayne , the owner and Mia are just wonderful....staff here are friendly and very polite...This is Grand Final day and the restaurant is decked out with balloons 🎈 of both teams.....Everything has been great and I must say......a few other reviews have been of the view that the owner or staff are racist towards ASIANS.....let me say this... today and tonight, we have personally witnessed two separate groups of ASIANS that from what we saw , enjoyed their meals and service and were treated with the same level of service and respect as everyone else... I couldn't imagine either Wayne or his staff bringing on any type of discrimination behaviour....... This place is fantastic for either a late night cocktail or a lunch...
