Loved being at the Suburbia Bakery as a solo diner, yesterday morning. The stylish and cleverly designed interior was a breath of fresh air. Being located in an industrial unit ensured lots of space for patrons, good natural light, and locally crafted wall coverings for warmth and to tone down the noise levels that often drown out conversations in these brick and hard surface establishments. My latte hit the spot. As a casual coffee drinker, I am over drinking luke warm cups of coffee with no flavour, for my hard earned cash. So, at my age, it was a real pleasure to be so surprised by the silky texture, that I could have ordered another one. However, the delicious cookie twinned with my coffee, meant that there was no room for anymore (this did not stop me from ordering more pastries, bread, jam, and a bag of coffee to go). It was great to meet the baristas, Otis and Ken. Both friendly and helpful. A must in customer service! The only reason I gave an overall score of 4, is because parking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I heard that this Suburbia cafe based around the Seven Seeds roastery opened just down the road from me I was super keen; I hadnt had much experience drinking SS but being a bit of a coffee nerd I was excited that a coffee shop with such pedigree opened up nearby. The three times I have ordered from here though, I have been really disappointed. Two times I ordered a soy latte and the milk was textured very poorly (large bubbles in foam, not silky in the least), the coffee was really weak and the soy tasted far too strong and overpowering. And it was expensive. The other time I tried a long black which was a slight improvement but still really underwhelming. I um'd and ah'd about leaving a review but thought it would be worth it to warn others and possibly evoke SS to improve their soy based coffee to at least come close to the standard of cafes...

The design honours the industrial aesthetic and open space. You walk in and immediately greeted by an assortment of pastries and croissants š„ My favourite is Shakshuka with an EGG baked into the croissant, topped off with their homemade chilli oil 𤤠itās crunchy, spicy, and full of flavour.
Their coffee game is obviously strong, they know their coffee and they do it well. I always order a dirty chai almond latte. They also have self-serve still AND sparkling water taps.
Seating is suitable for kids and prams, work meetings, or just a casual lunch. Itās overall expensive but you get what you pay...
