The Brunswick Fish and Chippery — Restaurant in Melbourne

Well done guys. You know what I love doing at 2am after eating your fish and chips? Throwing it all up.. Actually thinking about it, it was the most enjoyable part. I am only reviewing it because it made my 5 year old daughter throw up too. With just a nice little chunk of fish stick ending up in my ear canal.. also thought we would try the Nutella Pockets. There was no description and now I know why. Imagine writing this on the menu. Nutella spread between 2 pieces of tip top white bread, dipped in the same batter as your fish and then deep fried. Honestly? A battered nutella sandwich? I'm picturing a director's meeting where everyone sat around conjuring ideas and sampling options and someone's 7 year old kid named Gavin walked past with a nutella sandwich and the dream factory went into meltdown over a revolutionary...

Probably the best fish and chips in the area. Pretty good value for money, we both could not finish our packs. Plenty of vegan options which is rare for a fish and chip shop. Ask for the Brunswick salt it is great. The flake was good quality and the batter tasted light and crunchy. The chips were standard fish and chip shop style but more crunchy than most. The sweet potato chips were really great. The fake vegan fish was not too bad but tasted like fish only a little bit. The calamari strips had some of their coating slide off but were not bad. The vegan dim sim was nice. I don't think the South Melbourne dim sim was a genuine one, but tasted nice nonetheless. The aoli given was very tasty. A nice experience, BUT one star off because they forgot the tartar sauce, which I was looking forward to having...

We recently moved to the area, and looking around the neighbourhood we found the best place ever. The service is always amazing and super friendly. About the food, you feel the freshness of the fish, the chips are perfectly crispy and soft, potato cakes are delicious, the best we've ever had, and the tartare sauce is 10/10 as well. We havent tried the whole menu, but we want to because it looks promising.
