I have come to this pub for many years, so I know not to expect too much, though my experience this past weekend was very disappointing.
The upstairs deck is never open, and upon asking if it can be opened for a large group, we were basically scolded, so most of our time was spent in the downstairs bar or the bistro.
While the food in the bistro was nice, the service in the downstairs bar was absolutely terrible. The first bartender was polite and happy to have a chat whilst serving drinks, however once he was replaced by a man, who I gather was his manager due to the rude way he spoke to the original bartender in front of customers, things went downhill immediately.
This man was extremely rude and disrespectful to a number of patrons. Any time someone would approach the bar, they were met with a glare, and if they dared to order a drink, they were warned to slow down as they'd ordered too many drinks. Never in my life have I experienced this at any other pub. Absolutely ridiculous for a group of grown men and women who have caused no trouble to be treated this way.
I'd advise the staff here to look for other jobs if they are not happy, as being rude to customers is not really...
Read moreWent for lunch on a Friday in January with the family. We were the only people in the bistro. A few characters looked to be haunting the bar. They also have a separate pokies area but obviously I didn't go into that section. The bistro decor looks 70s but is in good condition. The wooden paneling reminds me of the Great Northern.
A surprisingly good range of craft beer for the area. Mostly in bottles and cans, but a couple on tap. I had Pirate Life IPA in a can. Good on them for bringing craft beer to Greensie.
The food was okay. I did the Palma Test and it was reasonable. Also a very cheap meal overall with a generous kids menu deal. Better than the Urban Grooves palma. The chips were next to the meat and not under it. Yes, it can be done.
Overall bonus points for the beer range, solid on the food, friendly service. Negatives are pokies - horrible, should be banned - and a slightly strange feel to the place. Feels a bit unsavoury but maybe different with more people in the evenings. Fans of good beer in the mid to outer north east should...
Read moreWe went to Greensborough hotel for the first time. I’ll start off by saying the staff were nice and friendly. We got a range of different food like their, bread and dips, nothing to special the dips are store bought like I can make them from home, we tried their saganaki (fried cheese) and it was soft, and cooked very well, we also tried some mains like their, southern fried chicken burger, which was a little on the disappointing side in regards that the chicken was not crispy like other southern fried chicken burgers, flavours were average, we also tried their traditional Parma with chips and a side of veggies, very plain and average, nothing special and a bit dull in presentation , we also got their Asian chicken stir fry which was the best meal, very colourful, tasty and filling, cooked to perfection and overall best dish of the night. The pricing was quite on the higher side for a pub/hotel style, and not exactly worth the quality of food we ate. Definitely highs and lows with this place...
