Always popular on the weekends & a main stay for a reason. Consistent menu & I have been going there to get the Avacado Toast with Smoked Salmon for years. They have always done a very great job at maintaining a high standard: good food, coffee & service (even if you may have to wait five minutes for a table when its busy).
This review would have been an easy five stars. Typically, you sit down, order and it's brought promptly by friendly people. Unfortunately the one time we go for a sunday birthday brunch. The service & food was lacklustre. We were normally asked our order and placed coffee & food together.
We ordered drinks, two avocado toasts with smoked salmon, wagyu burger and the rueben. We got our coffee pretty quickly about five minutes in. The one milkshake was slow, coming five minutes later (no big deal, I'm sure they would of liked to of had it at the same time). The drinks were good, although a distant memory by the time food arrived.
30 minutes, maybe 45 minutes later we begin wondering what happened to the food? They find half the order, the wagyu and rueben, both completely cold. We ask them to fix it since its unacceptable.
They take it away and bring the other half a few minutes later, the two avocado toast. The others tell us not to wait for them to get their food (we are all quite hungry). A few minutes pass, the other food is brought. I can't vouch for the quality of their food (I didn't taste it), if it was rushed, re-heated or something. At this point its anyone's guess.
For the food I did taste. Usually, there is slice of lemon to add to the zest of the dish, not this time. The dukkah was barely there, sourdough toast crust was burnt & the avocado was on the un-ripe side (firm & pale). The salmon and poached egg was on par. Overall disappointing, a great dish thoroughly tarnished.
10/10 would qualify a recommendation with, don't go on a busy day & it's been good most...
Read moreHamptons Bakery is an absolute local treasure. This café perfectly embodies that warm, welcoming community vibe that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in. We bring our young family here all the time — and it’s honestly one of our favourite spots.
The food and coffee are consistently fantastic, and the staff are always so lovely and attentive. It’s the kind of place where they remember your name and your order — that little extra touch that makes all the difference.
As parents, we really appreciate how family-friendly it is. The kids are always thrilled with the colouring-in activities provided, and there’s even a baby change mat in the toilet — a small but thoughtful detail that makes outings with little ones so much easier.
Recently, we took part in a cookie decorating date run by the team at Hamptons, and it was the most wholesome, lovely experience. It brought so much joy to the kids (and adults too!) and was such a beautiful way to connect with others in the area.
We feel really lucky to have this café in our neighbourhood. Thank you, Hamptons Bakery, for creating a space that’s more than just great food — it’s a place that truly brings...
Read moreLast time I was here the place was SO noisy that you could not hear the person opposite you but thankfully they have changed decor to minimise the noise, now lots of wooden furniture, plants and a small dividing wall with banquette seating. Absolutely delicious coffee (soy latte and flat white). Actually so good I ordered another before I had even finished the one I was drinking! Ordered avocado on toast with a side of halloumi while husband had eggs on toast and my egg from avo. Really, really nice and would come back. Though options are quite limited, particularly if you are a vegetarian like me. 29.1.24 husband and I had nice brunch here. He had eggs on toast and I had wholemeal sourdough with preserves and granola. We also had coffees (flat white and soy latte). Our waitperson Ava was very helpful and didn't mind me changing my mind as I'd originally ordered avocado on toast but I always have that. However it was too warm inside and I asked if they could turn air con on, which they did, and I could feel it, but then I think they turned it off as it got quite warm again. So we were going to stay for another coffee but too hot so...
