Very disappointing experience and would strongly encourage all people to not give their hard earned money to the manager who is arrogant, disgusting and has no idea on how to treat paying customers. He should not be in business and gives the whole of Sorrento community a bad name with his behaviour (which is verified as true with the large amount of other complaints and incidents in the reviews and his absolutely appalling responses to others in the reviews) I was enjoying a lovely day out as a family with our 3 kids. We Spent $22 on 2 vanilla slices and was intending on eating them after we had finished our sandwiches and was approached and told we cannot eat our vanilla slices on the table as we had other food. We Requested a plate to put the vanilla slices we had purchased from him only to be greeted with a no as they were purchased as takeaway (Noting- we just ordered 2 vanilla slices at counter ?) We then said ok well if you wonāt give me a plate and we cant eat it here then I would like my money back and hereās your vanilla slices back. This request for my money back was again declined by the manager. The manager started talking about how he pays rent and this was paying for this seating area for paying customers which I replied well yes I am a paying customer and I have paid you $22. My continual requests for a plate for his food continued to be declined. Do not support this local business. He has and is continuing to give the Sorrento township a bad name! I look forward to this particular managers reply as judging by the responses to other customers on your reviews it will undoubtedly be disgusting and unprofessional. What business owner (verified in these reviews) flips tables on customers, belittles peopleās IQ, belittles their financial situation. Your employee who claims to be a manager belittled me when I went to give feedback regarding hair we found in 1 of the 4 vanilla slices we purchased from your store. Sunday 5th of November 2023. My niece went inside first as it was the piece she was eating, she walked in with confidence to let your store know that this was her experience by your dessert. The manager laughed at her. She walked out with her head down telling me that she just felt so little because he laughed and said that was not from the chef⦠so I walked in. Had the slice with me, I asked him why he would treat my niece the way he did, he laughed at me, I then told him that he has NO RIGHT to make fun of someone who is giving your business feedback with the quality of your desserts. Feedback is be taken on, not avoided. The manager then went onto say that we put the hair in that slice⦠how dare you. You have no idea on how to run a business. You have know idea on how to manage. You have no idea on how to treat a HUMAN. How dare you belittle customers who genuinely love your sweets. He made sarcastic comments, he told us to basically get over it and move on. The worker alongside him was shocked with his treatment towards us as customers. HOW DARE YOU! I will pass this experience we had with everyone I know and they will do the same. Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent here with my family to try the so called "famous vanilla slice", firstly, I have never been so embarrassed by rude and disrespectful staff and management, we spent a little under $30 on cakes after we had ordered fish and chips from the amazing Fish Fetish next door (who had the best fish I have ever eaten at a great price, perfect customer service whilst under the pump too), we did not realize the vanilla slice shop sold main meals before hand, but their prices and the size of meals we sore was tantamount to highway robbery. So once we sat down, we were approached by the manager/possibly owner and told that we were not allowed to sit there to eat, then we were shown a small blackboard sign with no takeaway chalked on it, now my issue is, we did have food from their store, more than most patrons had too, there were other vacant tables, there were people sitting at tables with other food that were ignored and the footpath where we were sitting is not owned by the store. I would have understood and moved along without question if I had not purchased food from their store, but after spending good money on cakes there, I believe I should have been able to sit there and enjoy them, several other patrons also thought that the 3 staff members that continually hounded me to leave the table were totally out of line even if they were "told to say it". That being said, the vanilla slice was nothing to be excited about, good, not great, the lemon meringue pie had enough sugar in it to kill a horse and the chocolate cake was alright.
