Not recommended - we got the family box takeaway, and it wasn’t great. We had unseasoned chips that were overcooked with bad oil, extra salad (paid $4 on top of) with no dressing, small portion of fish bites and no cutlery at all. We weren’t even asked if we needed cutlery. Also, do not buy tartare sauce. They have it listed as a purchase option but there’s no point cause they give you packets for free anyway. The one they sell isn’t special anyway!

Certainly one the best fish and chips this side of town. I’ve never been disappointed by the quality of food and it’s reasonably priced for what it is. I’ll always go out of my way to go here and sit on the foreshore. I wouldn’t say the staff are rude by can sometimes come off as rude if taken the wrong way. It’s a fish and chip shop after all. You order your food; you wait for your number to be called. It’s not a restaurant.

A fish and chips lunch, on a pretty fresh day on the front at Williamstown. The grilled flake (gummy shark)was good, so were the chips. Asked for crispy chips, and they were! We sat outside as there is no indoor seating. We were joined by a gull looking for a feed. The view across the Bay of the City of Melbourne would be great on a nice day. We do plan to return when we're ready again for fish and chips.

A Taste of Maritime Delight at Top of The Bay, Williamstown

Nestled along the picturesque waterfront of Williamstown in Melbourne, Top of The Bay stands as a beacon for seafood enthusiasts seeking a truly delectable experience. As a seasoned reviewer with a penchant for good cuisine, my recent visit left me thoroughly impressed with this quaint fish and chip shop.

From the moment I stepped in, I was met with a warm and inviting ambiance. The maritime-inspired decor pays tribute to Williamstown's nautical heritage, creating a cozy setting that perfectly complements the waterfront locale. The strategic spatial layout ensures that every guest has a view of the glistening bay, a thoughtful touch that enhances the dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the culinary delights. The fish and chips at Top of The Bay are nothing short of exceptional. The fish, perfectly encased in a crispy, golden batter, exuded freshness and flakiness that spoke volumes about the quality of their ingredients. Their potato cakes were a revelation - crispy on the outside, yet delightfully soft on the inside, showcasing a mastery of the craft. As for the pineapple fritters, they were an unexpected delight, striking a perfect balance between sweet and crispy.

Beyond the culinary prowess, the service at Top of The Bay truly shines. The staff are not only friendly and attentive but also demonstrate a genuine passion for ensuring guests have a memorable dining experience. They're well-versed in the menu, providing insightful recommendations tailored to individual preferences.

One of the standout features of Top of The Bay is the option to dine al fresco, right next to the water, directly opposite the shop. This vantage point offers a breathtaking view of the city, adding an extra layer of charm to an already enchanting setting.

In conclusion, Top of The Bay in Williamstown is a seafood haven that seamlessly marries culinary excellence with impeccable service. Their potato cakes and pineapple fritters are undisputed highlights. For those seeking a memorable meal with a view, this charming fish and chip shop should be at the top...

Visited this fish shop today, Mon 25/01/2021. Looking forward to a great feed of fish and seafood by the beach.

What a terrible, inedible feed we received. Ordered 2 Seafood selections for $15.50 each. There has to be a word worse than disgusting, for this greasy slop that was served up to us and ended up in the bin. Beyond disappointed. We have never eaten a worse feed of seafood in our lives, ANYWHERE. We both feel physically ill, NEVER,EVER AGAIN. To top off the whole day was the young man who served us left his manners and personality at home, and should learn how to cook food...

Top of The Bay in Williamstown is a gem for anyone craving top-notch fish and chips. The fish is incredibly fresh, a testament to their commitment to quality.

The takeaways are not only tasty but also perfectly cooked, offering a delightful crunch with every bite.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is a must-visit for a satisfying meal. Highly recommended!

The shop is a simple take away restaurant with a few wooden tables and benches outside. Excellent view of Melbourne city from park and carpark...
