Such a poor excuse for teriyaki chicken 😭 I’ve recently moved to the west side of melbourne and am yet to find a teriyaki chicken bowl to replace my old local. The chicken was dry with next to no sauce, the steamed veg was naturally plain and the rice had the smallest smidge of sauce at the bottom that only made me more sad as it would have made the dish x10 better if there were more of it. I feel like Manu - “where is the sauce!!” The service was good and the price was average, reflective of the dish. I could have made better at home though..

We had the Japanese Banquet last night. The Miso soup was our favourite! The tempura was crispy and had a variety of prawn and vegetables. All dishes were a good introduction to Japanese food for my 12 year old daughter. So much food! We were allowed to take away the last couple of dishes that we could not fit in, but had to put this in containers ourselves. Friendly staff, very attentive and very prompt service. Highly recommend a visit. Not the best ambience, but the food was very good.

Yamabuki reminds me of the modest and unassuming restaurants we stumbled upon in Japan! The food was delicious and authentic and the staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back!

I caught up with an old customer of mine from my Japanese restaurant at this location. The Sashimi was well presented and of good quality fish, and the steak was quite nice. The Miso soup lacked fish stock and resulted in a very bland interpretation of Miso soup. The service was ample and it was good to see a Japanese waiter as he was able to take the order with ease. The downside was that although the opening hours were until 10pm and we had some sake left, lights were being turned off around us and the bill was presented before we had asked for it. We hurriedly finished our sake and left the establishment by 9:45ish. If the opening hours are until 10pm & dry wanted to close early, they could have advised us that they'll be closing early especially when we ordered an additional large bottle of sake. Worth trying out, but regrettably couldn't offer 4 stars due to the lack of the management's customer...

Our family favourite for a wonderful meal and prompt service full of appreciative servers and staff. We are a regular at this restaurant and the staff always greet us with a huge smile and remember our food choices. They are super efficient and deliver food quickly. The thing I love about the restaurant is it is consistent, offers a huge menu of choices and has some great drinks. They are not overly friendly (in a good way) but always smile and ensure your food choices are delivered promptly. I love the team behind the counter who are also a key part of preparation and your account on the way out. Highly recommend the WAFU steak, salmon sashimi (always fresh and perfect size and portions for great value) and the amazing prawn tempura. We always over order but love the options for “next day”. Thanks...

Haven't been here in the longest time, closest Japanese non-chain resto near Werribee that I know.

Ordered some favourites that I can order almost everywhere.

Gyoza was poor, had a bit of a strange taste to it, and they were not uniformly grilled. Also a very small amount of sauce to go with 7 pieces.

Buta shogayaki was a major disappointment, very little flavour, ginger was almost non-existent and the veges that came with it were steamed into oblivion, terribly bland.

Even the steamed rice was a disappointment, not the sticky (koshihikari) that will be served in good places. Tasted to me like Jasmine that had been overdone.

Will not be returning, especially since the prices are something you'd expect to pay in the city (maybe...
