First of all, if this listing is for the pub, they have a restaurant area in the same premises, and the food comes from the same kitchen, so, anything you see here in my review you can get it at the pub too The Tower is an all in one hotel, restaurant, pub, and pokies (gambling machines) I personally sat at the restaurant The menu has lots to choose from: it has appetizers, salads, burgers, pizzas, pasta, risotto, and other mains, sides, kids menus, desserts... Lots of alcoholic drink options indeed, beer, wines, and liquors They have drinks specials, and food specials that change everyday Personally I went for orange juice pear, rocket and walnut salad, with lots of walnuts linguine vongole, with lots of clams apple & rhubarb crumble Every food item came in a generous portion , was yummy, and looked super good too (always a good sign to me, if they take extra time to make it look good, you can understand they care a lot about the taste) The person in charge of attending customers, Gina, is lovely, very good first impression on my side, and I could see/hear she had returning guests, which she cared a lot about too While the guys in the kitchen are well efficient too With the same for served in both spaces, you can choose to eat in the restaurant if you want a relaxed place, or in the bar if you're more into meeting a crowd. Oh, and there's a terrace too Basically, lots of options about the atmosphere you wanna get, and the food and drinks you wanna get, great food, nice presentation, friendly and efficient staff... highly...
ย ย ย Read moreMy daughter and I went for lunch there yesterday the 9th January, 2015. The first time for 18 months. But thought that seeing it had been refurbished we would give it a go and see if the menu had improved. When we arrived Three or four couples were either eating lunch or having drinks. We ordered two drinks. Then proceeded to peruse the menu which was very stained and off putting. We both decided to have the fish and chips ,the fish being flathead tails. After waiting half an hour or more our lunch arrived on a very narrow oblong dish which made it very hard to manage . It took two Chefs I presume that they were Chefs. They were standing behind the counter of the Bistro to cook 6 small fishtails 3 on each plate add the rocket salad and also cook the chips. The fish was very small and dry. Batter nice, fish dry.!
The Bistro itself has been very beautifully refurbished. However, the Menu is over priced and has very limited choices. We asked for the fish of the day but they only had fish and chips. Which is very poor considering the Riversdale Hotel has an extensive Menu and more than one choice of fish to choose from. The fish is always on the Specials Board and they have lovely flounder. After all it's not much good having a lovely venue and a poor menu and that is what is happening at The Tower. It's a pity! . .The waitress was very nice and helpful. Sorry Jo. I am just being...
ย ย ย Read moreWhom ever is giving this place 5 stars is either really drunk or forced at gun point. The crowd is pretty chilled and it sets a nice atmosphere unless the the Uni students are in then it's the usual ostentatious muck raking that ensues which is fine unless they start urinating all over the toilet walls marking thier territory, then we have the pokies which offer a generous selection of the latest machines however regular maintenance could prevent a lot of problems as when you have spent over 700 dollars on one machine with expectations of it reciprocating and then all does blank along with your credit, moving on tho menu which is not only limited but outrageously expensive although nicely plated and well cooked I can't help but question the 49 dollar price tag for a Porter house completed with an 11 dollar schooner of Carlton Dry ( Found in most other pubs for 9.40 -9.70). Although despite all the muck and grime the tower does have some of the most dutiful and loyal staff I have experienced so far...
