Stumbled across this little gem today with a couple of friends and we all loved what we had for lunch. Unfortunately we were so hungry we forgot to take photos, but all 3 dishes were colourful, fresh, flavoursome and with hearty portions. There was plenty for me to choose from as a vegetarian but I landed on the Salt and Pepper tofu as it’s a personal favourite. Lightly fried cubes of soft tofu with just the right amount of salt and spice accompanied by red onions and green capsicum with a salad you can eat and not just decoration. I did also decide to have a side of fresh veggies (carrot, broccoli, water chestnut etc) and was amazed at the deliciousness for just $5! One of my friends had an unusual combination of a duck curry with lychees and she really loved it (and being from Singapore she can be a hard judge to please). My other friend had crispy chicken with fried egg on a round hill of rice and salad, and whilst that may sound rather normal, we all went ‘whoa’ when it was the first dish to arrive at the table. A real feast for both the eyes and the stomach. We are so glad to have followed our noses when walking along the street, as the food was great and the friendly prompt service was an added bonus. The price was really reasonable considering everything everywhere has gone up - so we will definitely be back to work our way through the menu. A perfect choice to catch up with friends. Thank you Viet Table for giving us the perfect venue to catch up today for munching...
Read moreIn all honesty, we originally decided to grab two banh mi for takeaway because the place up the road had a long line. When we perused the menu, couldn't pass up the opportunity to try the unique, chef's special short rib pho... And were not disappointed!
The beef rib generously extends across the diameter of the bowl. The meat succulent and falling off the bone. Pro tip: get a side plate where you can pull the bone out and slice the meat into bite size pieces; immerse these back into the broth and enjoy!
The banh mi was an obligatory try. It was above average with generously sized chunks of belly meat, but you'll find better at a bakery that specialises in it, where you can customise the fillings to your liking.
Home made pork spring rolls were better than most pho places. They were so delicious I forgot to take photos for the review.
We had a travel sized pram with 10 month old and it would have been very cramped if the restaurant was full (luckily it was not--it's narrow). The staff were accommodating, however, and provided a high chair and plastic infant friendly bowl/cutlery.
Overall very high quality, family friendly restaurant. We'll be coming back to try...
Read moreThe decor and portion size were adequate, food was decent although definitely different from the typical Vietnamese restaurants I have been to. For example the soup from the Pho was not the typical homely recipe I was accustomed to but seemed more soy based, the ribs however were delightful, tender and flavorsome.
I felt the service was lacking because we were placed near the door and there was significant wind blowing into the restaurant. Not to mention the front door was busted or somewhat which left a gap allowing the cold air into the establishment. When inquired they told us there were reservations on the other tables which we understood.
However as the other patrons who dined ahead of us had finished and their vacant (and warmer) tables and we requested a move we were told they couldn't move us because of the food on our table. At this point we had a half finished plate of spring rolls and they had only brought out our 2nd dish, I could have moved myself easily. This really soured our dining experience.
The other waitress was more attentive and helped me clean up when I accidentally spilled water which is the only reason I did not give this...
