A Quiet Triumph. Tucked neatly into a sun-dappled stretch of Albert Park, Wallyâs Wine Bar is the kind of place that doesnât beg for attention - it earns it, glass by considered glass. With its unassuming façade and softly spoken confidence, Wallyâs is a masterclass in restraint. It feels less like a new addition and more like itâs always been here, just waiting for you to notice. Inside, the room hums with the gentle din of low conversation, vinyl static, and the occasional clink of glassware. Itâs intimate but never cramped, elegant without pretense. Wallyâs understands that true hospitality isnât about spectacle, itâs about atmosphere. Thereâs an unmistakable warmth here: in the natural timber and textures, in the curated wine list that leans European but isnât afraid of a clever local pick, and in the team, who are quietly brilliant. The wine offering is sharp, expressive, and personal. You donât feel like youâre reading a list, you feel like youâre being handed a story. A glass of skin-contact friulano from a tiny producer in northern Italy is poured with the same quiet reverence as a Yarra Valley pinot. And should you linger long enough to indulge in something from the tightly edited snack menu... Youâll quickly realise that Wallyâs doesnât just know good wine, it understands good taste. In a city crowded with concepts, Wallyâs is refreshingly free of gimmick. Itâs a bar built on human scale and human rhythm - a place for long conversations, quiet contemplation, or simply to be still with a good pour. Melbourne has many wine bars. But few feel as inevitable, as elemental, as Wallyâs. Go for: the joy of discovering something exceptional without the theatre Stay for: the sense youâve found your new local, whether you live nearby or not. Scott...
Read moreWallyâs is an intimate wine bar nestled in the neighbourhood of Albert Park! It boasts heaps of outdoor seating and a small selection of seating inside. The menu is European inspired and houses a few small plates. The chef @alan__dente has previously worked at some of my favourites, @waxflowerbar & @we_are_vex so I knew we would be in for a treat
Here is an overview of what we had: đ„ Hash brown, Comte custard & chives: perfectly crispy and well balanced đ Raw fish, plum, shishito pepper & finger lime: so zesty & the fish was just perfection, so fresh! Couldnât get over the sauce đ Focaccia, smoked celeriac butter: love this, best focaccia & an insane butter, never had anything like it and it is possibly one of the best butter accompaniments I have had đ Maltagliati amatriciana: the pasta was cooked perfectly, the spice was there but it needed more depth of flavour & guanciale đ Rigatoni alla Norma: perfectly cooked pasta, loved the capers with the eggplant, a slight bit of spice but overall just needed more depth đ« Chocolate mousse, cream cheese, pear: as it reads, how could it be bad? A fruity olive oil to top it off, this went down a treat
Drinks were fantastic, service and ambience was perfect, food was mostly fantastic just need some refinements to the pasta sauces! I will be back to try more of the menu and more of their...
Read moreIâm not one to ever leave a review unless positive but my friend and I dined on Saturday at Wallyâs and we were so shocked and uncomfortable with how rude the FOH serving staff were. The food was absolutely AMAZING and all the drinks and wine were delicious and when the chefs brought a couple of the dishes out they were really lovely. The server wearing the blazer and older looking of the two (seemed like the manger) and the server wearing the dark blue button up shirt and dark hair were so unfriendly and snarky to us. It felt like they were mad at us for being there. Both my friend and I have worked many years in the service industry so we value being kind and appreciative, we even tried to be extra friendly to these staff members in hopes of remedying the vibe but the snarky comments and foul attitude toward us (and from what we could tell other customers) never changed. Itâs really sad because my friend had been wanting to try this place for ages and she saved going there for when I was visiting Melbourne. Again, all the food and wine was delicious and the venue itself is stunning. Not sure if something had happened to these two servers before we got there but their attitude was awful. Would always choose average food and lovely service over great food and...
