Absolutely blown away by the food, service, and ambience. I’d even say it is within Top 3 restaurants of 2024 for myself.
Seriously the cuts of meat, something I felt very different from any KBBQ. The Qiqihar beef was the highlight, having the aromatic veggies accompany the meat was a one-straight ticket to flavourtown.
The Wagyu Chuck Rib was the star, hitting all the right wagyu fatty notes, without being overly fatty.
The Wagyu Rib Cap was still good, but incomparable to the others.
Now, the meat was the main actor, but what would any be without the supporting actors. The sauces were creative in its taste, the sesame sauce had a light nutty aftertaste, and the sesame oil was light but perfectly salty to complement the meat.
The soya sauce with green chilli, red chilli, coriander, and garlic, was the perfect condiments to complement a meat bite without sauces.
The WangWang cold noodles were also great, having a QQ texture, and a refreshing soup. Perfect for cleansing the palate between each meat.
Finally, the charcoal grill, although it was self-serve, we weee able to get perfect sears as the overall grill was constantly hot and just looks amazing.
Shoutout to Shizuku and Morgan for bringing the whole...
Read moreThis place will not last 6months 5 of the dishes we requested were ‘sold out’ despite the restaurant being all but empty. The owner sat at a table drinking whisky sours and looking at his laptop and only moved when a friend arrived to have dinner with him - more whisky sours! Our dining companions requested green tea icecream for dessert and guess what? It was ‘sold out’. The waitress explained that they had lots of children in for dinner. We were dining early and the only child we saw in am empty restaurant was a baby. They finally offered a frozen pear dessert. The dessert was definitely what they said it would be… a frozen pear with no accompaniments - it looked like it had been in the freezer for at least 6 months and was brown and inedible. When one of our fellow diners complained the owner just grinned and then told the waitress off when she removed the dessert from our bill- even though the dessert was sent back basically untouched. Do yourselves a favour and take a wide berth. It was the worst dining experience we have had in...
Read moreNew local restaurants don’t open with any fan fare. We booked dinner at WangWang as soon as we noticed it existed. I was really excited by the new option as we don’t have any Chinese BBQ joints like this anywhere nearby. Guess what … it was delicious.
We ordered the set menu for 4 plus some extra ox-tongue and vegetables. The meat came out in fair small bite size cubes and thin slices. Most of it was without marinade, as simple as it gets. We cooked, we ate, we drank and chatted for several hours.
I don’t think BBQ is the best way to cook tongue but that’s a personal choice. The rest of the meat was juicy and delicious. I can’t give them points for cooking as we did all of that!
The price per head was perfectly reasonable for a classy restaurant although the drinks were a bit too expensive. We didn’t walk away overfilled with food but we also didn’t need to go to McDonald’s afterwards.
The staff were friendly but a bit inexperienced. Hopefully that will improve with time. It didn’t take away anything from the night but it’s...
