Runaway Cupcakes — Local services in Melbourne

So, I had organised a cake for my kid's birthday party some 3 weeks prior to the date. Picked a lovely Pokemon themed cake from the catalogue, was in constant touch with the owners of the shop who advised that the cake would be ready on time etc etc. Arrived on the day of the party to pick up cake and guess what, NO CAKE !!! They had completely forgotten to bake the cake. I was completely gobsmacked, my kid was utterly devastated and 2 hrs to the party, we had no absolutely no cake. Next, ensued a barrage of calls to all and any cake shop we could find on google for some cake very last minute and being a Sunday majority of them were unfortunately closed. Finally, got through to one cake shop who had 2 small cakes on hand, we managed to save the day. Not what we were expecting, least of all my son who had bragged to all his friends about the awesome pokemon cake they would be getting. However, at this stage I was just glad that we atleast had some cake.

Lastly, I do appreciate the owners having the courage to call up and apologise for their gaffe. They did offerr free stuff in return which I declined. With all the positive reviews around, I know they make really good cakes however I am compelled to leave a negative rating for the frustration they caused me and my son on his birthday. I sincerely hope they are more careful next time and dont repeat the same mistake again to...

This place is simply amazing, my experience from the time I called them to place an order till the time cake was delivered it was an awesome experience. I spoke to a lady called Lucy she was very friendly, helpful and is exceptionally outstanding in her customer service. I called many places to place an order for a birthday cake to be delivered to home but was refused by many places as it was a Sunday and it was a last minute order. Finally when I spoke to Lucy from Runaway Cupcakes she was at her best in helping me out, she did a great job using her creativity in making the cakes and delivered the cake even though it was late in the evening. I can’t express how much that meant with the stress of planning a milestone birthday party for my little one for the first time. The minion multi layer cake was perfectly delicious and the decorations were spot on, not overly sweet and sooooo, very beautiful inside and out!
