Large club in terms of membership on a decent-sized premises with parking out front in the median strip of Morwell Avenue. Parking can be limited at times. The forecourt has three tightly situated guns from WW1 and WW2, the details of which are: - Quick Firing (QF) 25-pounder MkII Barrel No.L/10482 Jacket No.L/7064 Breech-ring No.L/7064 manufactured 1942 by Maribyrnong Ordnance (MO) on saddle No.2 MkI, and carriage MkI/L/ No.5189 manufactured 1942 by Ruwolt. - Quick Firing (QF) 40mm Anti-Aircraft (AA) Bristol Bofors gun comprising MkI Barrel No.L/25293 manufactured 1942 by Otis Fensom Elevator Works Canada (OFE/C), unknown breech-ring, autoloader, and breech casing on saddle MkXII No.5552 manufactured 1942 by Baker Perkins (BP), and platform MkII No.P-[8]058 manufactured 1942 by BP? Other examples of Bristol Bofors can be found at the RSL clubs of Keilor East, Pascoe Vale, and Fawkner, but none are in well maintained condition. The Fawkner example is the most well preserved in terms of visible marks. - Breech-loading (BL) 10.5cm leichte FeldHaubitze 1916 (leFH16) [light field howitzer 1916 model] No.14607 manufactured 1918 by Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg, Nürnberg (MANN) on carriage No.9375 manufactured 1918 by TC. Staff at club were friendly and more than happy for visitors to photograph these items so long as they are respected.

I attended for Anzac Day, in memory of my father. First time here and they did it so well, truly honouring Anzac Day in respect, style and spirit. From the memorial at the front, sausage sizzle, Aussie flags on every table, a rowdy 2-up game going on upstairs. Top notch. Good to see the place was jam packed, with both young in military uniforms ( a good reminder that many sacrificed lives were so young!) And the old troopers proudly wearing medals. Such a happy crowd and great service. And I got a nice little win on the 1c pokies. 😄 Very much a place to go back to for another meal and to support this RSL. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Have been to many RSLs over the years and liked them. Don't normally head out this far north of Melbourne so was pleased to discover this place. Watsonia was maintaining a good standard in food (I had a chicken parmigiana) and service (friendly, efficient). Prices were around the same mark you might expect at a pub. (Does help a bit if your dining companion is a member of the RSL) Saturday afternoon was busy without being crowded. Our group of 2 had no trouble getting a table as a walk in. Recommend it.

Attended the watsy rsl on 25/2 to celebrate a family birthday. Been to the rsl many times before.I have 1 year old twins and a 4 year old. Was approached by staff and told to return the twins to their high chairs as they had been walking around playing. It wasn't a request we were told to do so. They were being supervised by adults as they were doing so and were within sight. As expected the twins didn't appreciate being strapped back into their high chairs causing them to scream. I questioned if this was the outcome staff wanted and was told it was a management request to return kids to high chair. Ended up leaving with the twins and leaving remainder of family to have dinner. Not the night out I would have hoped for. Parenting 3 kids let alone toddler twins is hard enough without some 25 year old waitress judging my kids behaviour. Not the same child friendly venue i remember especially because playground is closed due to covid. I assume another genius management decision to keep it closed despite play centres are reopened, all public parks and places like McDonald's have reopened playgrounds. Playgrounds in these sorts of venues are godsends for parents of young children. Raised the issue of the high chairs with management on the night and didn't get an appropriate response just defensive argument for the...

Held my wedding reception here about a year ago (yes this is long overdue) and it was the best decision ever. They have a beautiful function room up stairs with a bar perfect for a reception. The meals and drinks packages were very well priced and the food was amazing. The staff were great and professional on the day.

Maree, the functions manager, was amazing to deal with, from organizing the floorplan to handling the detailed dietary requirements of guests. She was super flexible and made sure the evening went smoothly, couldn't be happier with how the reception went.

10/10 would recommend holding a wedding reception at Watsonia RSL to any family or friends getting married in the Melbourne...
