ORDERED: 🥙 Special falafel pita pocket: 8 falafel balls, hummus, tomatoes, cucumber, pickles, rocket, mint leaves, tahini, wasup falafel herbs, fried eggplant, cauliflower, chips ($14.00) They also offer it with additional mild and hot sauce!

REVIEW: 🚶‍♂️ When you walk up to Wazzup Falafel, you're greeted with a warm smile and a moist falafel dipped in hummus. You order and the gentleman politely asks whether you'd like to dine in/ takeaway. Gesturing to our intended dine in seat, he nods as you sit down and wait for your pita to come out.

🥣 It arrives tucked in a bowl, the pita in 2 halves shoulder to shoulder. You split one half with your partner so you can try the mild and hot sauce flavours. Although you picked hot because you like spicy food 🌶, there's a moment of grim regret. The mild hot sauce is better in comparison. Zingy and bursting with a refreshing flavour, it compliments the flavours of the pita. The hot sauce is too warm, too stuffy, for the bright vegetable laden pita pocket. A line slowly forms out the door behind your partner, and you're thankful you arrived there slightly earlier. You finish off the pita and roll out the door because it is a FILLING serving.

The cauliflower stands out in the medley of diced fresh vegetables. 🥦 The textures starting from a creamy stalk but the florets are grilled for flavour. A little bit of smokiness makes your world go round. 🔥

It's the best falafel...

Truly authentic Palestinian falafel. Wazzup Falafel have single-handedly raised the bar for the quality of falafel available in Melbourne. You can feel that it's made with love, knowledge, and wisdom and so fresh: the taste can never lie. This is the true representation of food in the Middle-East and naturally along with that comes beautiful Arab hospitality 🫶🏾 absolutely anyone who has stepped through Wazzup's doors has been met with a warm welcome, a smile, and lovingly handed free taste of what's cooking: a fresh falafel dipped in freshly made hommous. 🫰🏾

Especially recommend trying the Palestinian stuffed falafel (mahshi) which is very rare to find anywhere in Melbourne. It's falafel with sumac and chili spiced onions stuffed inside and sesame seeds pressed and fried into that beautiful crust. The fatteh is gorgeously velvety and heavenly as well and like everything on the menu will nourish you well for the day. and my personal favourite go-to order: the special falafel pita pocket. the falafel, the sauces, the pickles, the chips, the salad, mint leaves and my favourite part: the fried cauliflower and eggplant in a pita they make in-house. Bjanen 🤌🏾

Honestly lucky to have such generous, authentic, wholesome affordable beautiful tasting food with us here, thanks to everyone at Wazzup Falafel. See you again and again...

This was my first time here, and I placed an order for a Special Falafel Pita Pocket. While it was being cooked and prepared, I had a chance to chat with Ahmed and Bara. They are very friendly people and had a great story to share about their journey from Queensland to Melbourne and beginning their food venture with this truck. While we were chatting, Bara offered a sample falafel to try that was generously dipped in hummus. It was exactly what I needed on a cold Saturday morning. The first bite of that sample teleported me back to my childhood in Egypt, and I couldn't wait for what would indeed be a special Special Falafel Pita Pocket.

The wait was over. The pocket was spot on. Pickled radish, pickled carrot, piping hot falafels, hummus, tahini, soft pita, all of it made the dish as traditional as it could get thousands of miles away from its origins.

Ahmed and Bara have a great vision for Wazzup Falafels. I am sure a brighter future awaits them, and in turn, us to enjoy their middle eastern treats.

Long story short, I will...
