DISAPPOINTING PHO A small cafe on the busy High Street Northcote strip offering a Vietnamese / Chinese cuisine. The name implies a pho noodle specialty so I was doubly disappointed at what was served up as a "chicken pho" - basically a bowl of plain noodles in a weak broth with a side dish of a leg of fried chicken. No bean sprouts, coriander, lemon, fresh chili to rescue the blandness. The service was very perfunctory. We had to wave the staff over to our table despite the cafe having almost no other customers. The other items we ordered were a bit better quality and they were able to cater for the vegan eaters among us. Its the kind of place where you get up to grab your own bottle of water and glasses, poach a container of chopsticks and cutlery from a nearby table and grab a tissue from the box as your serviette. That's all fine given the place doesn't pretend to be high end ... and has commensurately low prices. Probably an OK place to go if all you want is to eat and go. You will be disappointed if you are expecting a good bowl of pho however :(. Its BYO and takes credit cards. People with mobility issue will be fine as it is on one even ground floor level. Parking is just awful here (at least on weekend nights) and you'll very likely have to park a few blocks away on the side streets. The Route 86 tram runs right past the door and the Northcote train station is a 5 minute walk away.

Bang Bangs is pretty consistently good with the quality of food, price and service. In an location area where there are very few Vietnamese restaurants. Altho I've had Vietnamese food, Pho and fresh rice paper rolls which I'd say was better at ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Stars in Springvale, Bang Bangs is still pretty good for a cheap Vietnamese eat . I prob would agree with some of the other reviews, they most likely do put msg in their Pho tho. 🤔 3.5 stars ⭐⭐⭐. 5 Make that 2.5 stars! I went into their female toilets, and they keep huge containers of their cleaning products, such as Bleach, Sodium Hypochlorite, and others in there. It couldn't be part of OHS, as it would pose a danger of close contact to customers including young children 😒. I know restaurants, especially Asian restaurants can be dodgey (I'm not being racist, I am Asian! 😜), but they really should keep these products in a separate storeroom, or not at all, as they're also very environmentally unfriendly. 👎

What a quaint name for a Vietnamese restaurant! Pho Bang Bang was pretty quiet when I dropped by on a weekday for a quick lunch. ☀️The sunny bits: I ordered the broken rice. There was an attempt to make the dish look attractive with the vegetables and egg. The rice was delicious and the pork chop was flavoursome with lots of lemongrass. It did not take long for it to be served. I liked the chilli oil that was available on each table. ☁️The cloudy bits: This place was pretty dark and run down. Service was on the colder side. ⭐️The forecast: I’m not sure if I’ll be back anytime soon as there are surprisingly many Vietnamese options along this stretch of High Street.

My experience at pho bang bang, I have to say left me cold.I was disgusted how my 13 year old son and I were treated by the owners of this establishment. We went in to get some lunch and ordered our meals, it was just the 2 of us, also it wasn't busy in fact it was very quiet . About 3 or 4 minutes went by and a family of four came in to the restaurant and ordered, a short moment later we noticed the other people that came in after us were being served their food and it was a massive banquet that family had ordered, after seeing this, I was a little upset and felt we were not being treated well and realised we were pushed to the back of the line. I am going to say the family that came in were from Asian decent, I don't mean to be disrespectful.I felt they were being treated in favour of us so I thought I'm not going to spend my money here and left. I will never go there again and who ever reads this and thinks I'm being inappropriate with my comments I Apologise. I would not recommend this restaurant on the basis of how we were treated. I rate this no stars even though I had to give them one so I could be able to post this. I walked further down High Street with my son and found another Pho place and we were treated very well at a place called Viet pearl. And yes we had a good time. I THINK BANG BANG NEEDS A SHAKE UP ON HOW THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. YES THATS YOU...

Worst hospitality experience. After a difficult day, all we wanted was fried rice. We put an order through, with a few extra items. Upon receiving our order, the fried rice was completely missing (devastating). We called the uber driver, who told us that he only received what he gave us and to get a refund from uber (which uber didn't give us). So we called up the store, and after much difficulty they told us to come pick up the order (defeating the purpose of ordering delivery in the first place). We obliged and after battling extremely busy saturday night traffic and finding a near impossible park on high street, we picked up a single, small container of fried rice, which was supposed to be their "large" ($24). Their apology to us was to include prawn crackers (which are not vegan, when our whole order specified vegan) and a can of coke zero. The food itself was tasteless, did not travel well and was ultimately extremely disappointing and upsetting. As service workers ourselves, it is outside of our normal behaviour to complain, but this is outrageously...
