What an amazing place! The Dojo Ramen Bar had such lovely, chill energy, and the staff were the same, with a welcome smile as you walk through the door. As soon as you enter, you know where you are, as the aromas greet your olfactory senses with a welcoming gesture of their own. At first glance, the menu appears to be what you would expect from a top tier Ramen Bar. But, when you look closer, you notice that many of the dishes on offer have something a little different about them. A fresh, new take on the old favourites which artfully compliments and enhances the originals without overwhelming the comforting flavours we all seek and hope for when we embark on our Ramen adventures. It makes The Dojo Ramen Bar stand out as a thoroughly enjoyable and unique experience which delivers a modern take on the traditional, while paying great respect and staying true to the dishes and the ingredients which, at their core, make the dishes what they are and what we hope for when we get that irresistible craving. It's been a long time since a dining experience has stayed with me so that I'll occasionally find myself thinking back to the moment like you would a holiday or a special lifetime event. But that's exactly what it was. The only difference is that I can return to it, in person, and experience it again whenever I like, and I most certainly will be. Fairly often too, I reckon. Dammit. Now my mouth is watering again. Might see you there soon then, I...
Read moreI don't understand how this Ramen shop get such a high score. I think these customers never tasted Japanese Ramen before. Nothing personal, but the food in these store does not deserve such a high rating in its price range. First of all, there is nothing special about its HIGHLY recommended fried chicken, because it is just a normal taste karaage chicken. They just want customers to feel special, so they can sell them overpriced $2 per thumb sized pieces. if you like this kind of fried chicken, just go to Matsumoto Japanese Restaurant which isnt far from here and much cheaper with larger pieces. Second, for the Ramen, the soup is awful, tastes like if they are made from reconstitued miso concentrates, SALTY and COLD. There is nothing to complain about the Cha Shu, egg and the noodle, as they are just basics. But the broth, I dont think they even prepared any broth. If you want to go to this resturant, just go to any Asian store and buy a pack of Ajisen ramen pack, boil an egg, get take away karaage chicken, and I promise that you will never want to go back to this RAMEN Bar Again.

Read moreWe had two bowls of ramen, Tan Tan Men and Shio for about $20 each. Both of ours came with under cooked noodles; they were still hard and white on the inside. This has never happened to us before at a ramen place, neither in Japan nor Australia.
When we told the staff member that was serving us she offered us a replacement bowl, but we just asked for extra hot broth to cook them a bit more, which she gave us. No smile or apology from her though, even at the end of the meal when we were paying. The other staff were much more friendly and welcoming which, although not essential, creates a much nicer atmosphere.
Aside from the noodles, the ramen came with a few inclusions but they were pretty miserly. You can order extra inclusions, but for $20, even in the city at somewhere like Ramen San you get plenty of bamboo shoots, bean shoots etc. The broth was fine but nothing special. The cha shu pork in the shio ramen seemed to just be sliced pork, it was not really cha shu.
Overall, even though this place has a nice ambiance, I feel like it has lost whatever originally made it great based on it's reputation. If in the area, given our experience, I'd just skip ramen or go a bit further afield for...
