From the moment we decided on Welcome to Thornbury for our wedding, we knew we'd made the right choice, but the reality far exceeded our wildest expectations! Simply put, words cannot truly capture the sheer perfection of our experience. We are bursting with gratitude!
Luke, you are an absolute legend! Your guidance throughout the planning process was invaluable. You transformed what could have been a stressful time into an absolute breeze. Your friendly nature, genuine kindness, and expert advice made booking Welcome to Thornbury an absolute no-brainer. Honestly, you're hands-down the best event planner we've ever encountered. You made us feel so comfortable and confident every step of the way.
We chose the Showroom for our cocktail wedding, and it was the perfect, magical space. The atmosphere was incredible, and it truly set the stage for an unforgettable night. But it wasn't just the venue that made it so special – it was the entire team! From the friendly security guard who welcomed our guests, to the attentive serving crew, the fantastic bar staff, and the incredible managers who ensured everything ran flawlessly, every single person contributed to the seamless and joyous celebration.
And then there's the food! Oh, the food! We have to give the loudest, most heartfelt shout-out to the chef. It was, without a doubt, the best wedding food (and honestly, some of the best food period!) we have ever tasted. Our guests are still raving about the incredible flavors and the generous portions. We even had delicious leftovers, which were devoured with delight!
Welcome to Thornbury, you created a dream wedding for us. We are eternally grateful for your exceptional service, your warm hospitality, and your dedication to making our day absolutely perfect. We wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone looking for an unforgettable event. Thank you, thank...
Read moreAlthough the venue seems awesome, with loads of space and stuff to do while enjoying a beverage, the food trucks seem very average and indeed the Wednesday offer was somewhat misleading.
To explain: When we went to the food truck branded Mr. Burger, we were expecting to use an offer for 2-for-1 burgers. Sounds good right? Except when we ordered and paid (I couldn't see the transaction amount as it was in direct sunlight) we then asked why we were charged for 2. The lone staff member working the food truck simply told us it didn't include what we ordered - no offer to refund or change our order was offered. We let it go, but given these terms were not advertised I'm comfortable calling it misleading advertising, that could have been fixed if the staff member wasn't stressed because they were stuck on their own. It was around this point that I noticed we were charged by the venue, so there really isn't any excuse here.
The lone staff member at the bar was quick and efficient, but again didn't seem to really be enjoying the evening that much.
The food options overall were there, but lacks pub classics. Our burgers took 30 minutes to be prepared, mainly because the staff member there was on their own, and trying to cook up enough meals to match the 2-for-1 offer. The actual burgers and fries were pretty nice, but nothing amazing.
TL;DR: Good venue, but not enough staff to manage the advertised specials. The offer also has exclusions we were not made aware of when ordering, and no fix was proactively offered. Due to understaffing, food took far longer than expected, and staff weren't the happiest.
I'll happily try coming back here on a Friday or Saturday evening when there's proper staffing and food options, but on weekdays I'll be...
Read moreDisappointed. After having driven by so many times we made our way here on a reasonable late winter night. Thinking the place would be full of food vans - it wasn’t. There was a total of five plus a lovely guy making donut style desserts. With security guard at the entrance it was the first sign this wasn’t what I’d experienced in other places around the state. As you enter on the right was a private function. Enter the left and there was bingo happening and a bar with two guys that was working hard to serve all the customers - under staffed. Keep walking through and you enter a partially outdoor area with tables, chairs and the food vans. The Venezuelan food was so overpriced -$12 for a small meal that was no more than four bites. The hot dogs were huge and probably the best value for money. Popcorn chicken and chips at another can were overlooked. The souvlaki style meal was okay but the bread heated slightly would’ve made it better. We didn’t try the burgers. So much disposable containers for the food although much of it was cardboard or recyclable. $15 for the mini donuts was a bit steep but probably the tastiest meal we had. $37 for a pint and two wines - I’m out of touch with how expensive it is. Really this place was full of people much younger than us and no doubt this place is crazy over the warmer months. Lots of space indoors and out. Did see a dog here so not sure if that is a common occurrence. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking is...
