Oh I’ve always loved this place. I had such fond memories of the yummy food being bought to me in hospital when I had my child but today, that changed. My husband, 4 year old daughter and I ordered drinks from person 1… a soy latte for me (which was undrinkable, see photo), a chai (which also went in the bin because the amount of spice in it burnt our throats) and a hot chocolate. Dear reader, who do you think the hot chocolate was for? I don’t expect you to know her age but it seems logical to me. Maybe I’m smarter than I thought. Person #2 proceeded to lecture me on not indicating who the hot chocolate was and how I should have mentioned as they make them differently for kids. I replied that it’s person 1 you should be lecturing as it seems pretty obvious to me who the HC was for no? To which he replied the process of making a HC for a kid. Didn’t ask and don’t need to have that m*nsplained to me but okay. I reiterated, was pretty obvious who the hot chocolate was for for person 2 to announce to the entire staff out loud, quote: “this is a long conversation and now this is awkward so I’m going out the back”. Everyone was so uncomfortable, it was awful. Gross behaviour!
I’d give the bakers 5/5 though! Food was delicious. Won’t be going back and I’m sad I paid so much for this coffee that...
Read moreI moved to Northcote late last year. Have been on a hunt for the best sourdough rye and sausage rolls in the area, and I do believe that this morning I finally found it at Northcote Bakeshop. The bread was fluffy and flavoursome without being too crunchy or bubbly. The sausage roll was firm and delicious but not pure flakiness like the ones at some of the other fancy bakeries. The plum bow was excellent too. Plus they are open 7 days, unlike most of the others that have kinda awkward hours. I will be back regularly!

Read moreThe ham and cheese croissant had a lot left to be desired today. The croissant itself did not reflect the $11 price tag as the layers of the croissant was more doughy than flaky. The top layer had a slight crunch but it was far from being flaky, and the ham and cheese filling was minimal. The salt on top was a nice touch and presentation was presentable. Lune Croissanterie does better croissants which its price tags reflects its product...
