Yarra Flats Baking Co. — Restaurant in Melbourne

Come here semi regularly..... always at about 1.30-2 on a Saturday afternoon. Most weeks you cannot get a roll made at this time as they've "packed it away". Today, they advertise Caesar Rolls on two boards out the front, but at 1.15pm (still lunchtime in any other part of the world) "we've run out of schnitzels and cant make them" even though the supermarket is right next door.

There is never any apology or acknowledgement of anything in this place.

Today, my card didn't work as I needed to transfer funds and the young girl just kept putting it through and not communicating to me what the problem was. I had to ask what the machine was telling her was the issue "insufficient funds" was all the response I could get..... trying for a third time will not get the money luv!!!!

I like the food, but everytime I come here I leave frustrated with the lack of service.

I grew up in an extremely busy tourist food business not too far from here. The teenage girls employed were trained to look after customers, smile and acknowledge them appropriately. These kids running this shop have no idea about basic levels of...

I was served as soon as I walked in the door and the girl was pleasant. I ordered a Toastie for take away. The toastie was wafer thin and disappointing after paying $7.50.

I waited for what felt like an eternity. Maybe 10 mins, and then I approached the counter. On approach I was asked if I was being served, I replied, “just waiting on a toastie” the girl checked and it was still sitting in the microwave. She placed it in the sandwich press and set the timer for 2 mins. After 2 mins the barista lifted it out onto the chopping board. It sat there and no one bagged it up. After another 2 mins I asked the barista to please give me the toastie. She did with a condescending “have a nice day”

It took a ridiculous 15mins. There was no queue ahead of me when I ordered. There was 5 customers in the dining area already eating and drinking so there was no excuse for the long wait. The barista was the only person actually working. In total another 4 staff standing around talking and not doing much!

I will never return to this bakery. Aside from the girl that took my order. The service was dismal and the food overpriced and...

I popped my head in to ask if I could order a coffee from outside as I had my dog with me - I thought this was the polite thing to do as I didn't know whether they would appreciate my large puppy indoors. "I'm in the middle of something" - so I waited outside, a few minutes later she popped her head out the doorway: "what do you want?", and so I asked for a coffee - "well, what size do you want?", "how are you going to pay? do you even have money on you?" so I asked if I could pay with my card, I said it was a tap and go - "there is no way I am going to use that" she said, and so I told her not to worry about it. Her tone was extremely rude, she didn't want to bother with me. All the while my dog was sitting next to me quietly. I wanted a local spot I could come with him so he could get used to being in a cafe setting, but it's clear this isn't the one. Recommending all my family and customers to go...
