I came to Merredin by chance. Here is my second night accommodation place. I didnāt check any reviews on google and didnāt compare with others. I got their information from the visitor center which is next to the railway station, and knew itās the closet affordable place, plus itās on the Main Street. It rained that day so the moment when I arrived there, I feel more like I found a shelter where I have the roof to cover the rain for me.
The time when I arrived is about 3:30 in the afternoon. I met Steve. heās the only person there. I told I need the accommodation, then he gave me the key and showed me the way, passing through the bar, the restaurant and the kitchen. The young gentleman that served us (we think his name is Chris) went above and beyond. He was not only friendly as a bottleshop attendant, but when we asked him about local places for takeaway, he went into the tavern which was closed for a private function and got us menus and confirmed with the chef that the kitchen could cook us some tasty dinner. Living in Kalgoorlie for the last 5 years and this is by far The Best service we have experienced in the Goldfields. Its refreshing to see somebody with a passion and dedication to their workplace. We will be back :) PS food...
