We went to Brother Chris on our journey from Melbourne to Broken Hill. The brunch menu is so fresh/innovative as in not the same overdone breakfast menu items found in every cafe. I was excited to order from the great selection and I was not disappointed! I had the sweet potato breakfast gnocchi which was a very generous serving and including an egg on top, chorizo and bacon! The flavour was amazing and it was hands down the best brunch meal I’ve had in FOREVER! My partner had the lamb tacos and we both agreed they were also great! The service was great considering they were pretty packed due to public holiday and we ordered within 5 mins of sitting down, drink came 5 mins later and food about 10-15 mins after we ordered. The fitout of the cafe is new and lavish - we will definitely be stopping on our way back from Broken Hill to try some more things on the menu! Would recommend this cafe to anyone living in Mildura or passing through ! I thought v.reasonably priced (but I am used to inner city Melbourne prices!)

Excellent service, friendly staff, fresh beautifully presented food. There's the trifecta for a wining business. Prices are comparable with other cafe's and restaurants in Mildura, it's how you get it and what you get that stands out from many others. Brothers Chris is open and airey, plenty on menu for fussiest of dinners. I ordered eggs on toast, which apparently is the base from which you can build on, added a hash brown, bacon and mushrooms, wow what a breaky, did not have lunch later on. To to it off a long black with extra shot, superb.

Fantastic place for breakfast. Coffee is excellent and the French toast is amazing! - I have included a picture here- thick, soaked bread and huge fresh berries. Highly recommend. Staff were super friendly and food and drink arrived quickly. Also had the halloumi stack another day and it was equally excellent. The prices seemed reasonable and I will definitely be returning on my next visit to Mildy. The ā€œHamptonsā€ vibe is great, heaps of seats Inside and outside and easy parking on the street.

Seated quite quickly, but I was seated near an open door in winter - I was reseated but wasn’t sure if that annoyed them. I couldn’t tell if the younger waitress approved of me or not lol - sometimes a bit short with me, but the other more senior waitresses who took over were kind and personable.

The food - it’s a good concept but doesn’t execute well. The fritters were balls, but fritters are better as flat and shallow fried, to preserve the flavour and have an even texture. The outer crust was overcooked and slightly burnt, which made the inner flavour harder to discern, the filling was underseasoned and I couldn’t actually taste it - maybe not flavourful enough. The guacamole was slimy plus needed something like lime or lemon to give it flavour, I think there was mint sauce but it blended into the guac, the tomato relish was ok, the eggs were fine and tasty.

Then I had toast and preserves, which was great

Coffee was super average but does the job

I think the menu ideas are good but they need to work on the recipe that I ordered

I’ll come again and try...

My work is near BC and I regularly get coffees, snack and meals from there. I will never return to the place after how terribly I was spoken to this morning by a staff member. She made my cappuccino and as she handed it to me, I asked her what ingredients were on one of the salad rolls. With a twisted-up face and annoyed tone she said, "what am I looking at?" I said the roll in the front, she said, "UM SALAD ?!" I said yes, I understand that, looks like chicken. But what else and she's said "WELL I DUNNO!?" I needed to ask as I have a specific food allergy, but she was so aggressive I couldn't be bothered. She said "UM???? YEAH??! I CAN GO ASK HER IF YA WANT?" I said not to bother and walked out. The cappuccino was bitter and unbearably hot. Never have I ever been spoken to like that by waitstaff. Not even the barmaids at Rooty Hill RSL speak to their patrons like that. How trashy for a beautiful establishment like BC.

*The review was not considered carefully because as I stated, it was this morning 22/7 that I had this unfortunate experience. Not last weeks...
