I do not recommend Central Motel Mildura based on a poor booking experience that demonstrates a lack of customer focus. On 12 September I made a booking through Wotif for 1 night on 1-2 January. I received confirmation of the booking and my credit card was charged. Four days later (16 September) I received an email from the motel stating: “unfortunately expedia have let you book a single night over our hopefully busiest period. Please cancel this booking yourself to avoid any administration costs from both parties”. On further follow up they advised “we have a 3 night minimum over the Christmas, New year period”.
It is in my opinion poor form that after having made, and paid for, the booking it good faith I receive advice that an error by a third party results in me directed to cancel that booking with a threat of additional costs. The original email was unclear and confusing, as were the responses to my follow up correspondence trying to confirm that they were not going to honour the booking as made. They didn’t even reply to messages so in the end I was not able to be certain whether they would honour the booking or not. Given that poor behaviour and lack of certainty I certainly wasn’t going to support this business. While I doubt the suggestion of additional “administration costs” was even legal or enforceable, given this lack of professionalism I cancelled the booking and have raised my concerns with Wotif, noting the reputational damage to their brand caused by the unprofessional actions of the proprietors of the motel. Wotif on the other hand we’re very professional and refunded the booking promptly.
Holding a customer responsible for an error in the booking because of a policy that was not advised at the time the booking was made, and implied threats of additional charges is...
Read moreMy one star review is NOT based on the motel itself, that wouldn’t be fair. Beds are comfortable and rooms are very clean. A-bit noisey but that is to be expected being in the central location of Mildura. No, my one star review is to the manager and owner of this motel- DAVID! Yea David. You have no idea on how to talk to people or customer service! When you CANNOT accomodate your paying customers or even offer ANY assistance in parking my trailer! As I did NOT want it out on the street. I said to you. “ then I would like a refund” and that’s when you lost it! And refused to refund me. Maybe you didn’t want to help as we were only staying one night. And wasn’t worth your effort to help or assist as you also stated! You might be able to talk and speak to other customers like they are below you. I am not. Once I gave it straight back to you. That’s when you later came out and offered your personal car spot for my trailer. After all that tension and you banging your chest. Too LATE! It should of been offered to BEGIN with! All the best David. And try and learn some basic human skills on how to treat and...
Read moreWe normally stay just out of Mildura at Buronga caravan park but on this occasion it was closed owing to previous flooding. So we decided to stay at the Central Motel right in the heart of Mildura and we are glad that we did. The rooms were spotlessly clean and quiet you could not hear the traffic in the main street. The Motel is very close to the RSL & Working Mans Club, a short stroll across the road for a lovely meal. The Motel location is fantastic as you could walk to the main shopping precinct easily. The swimming pool is spotless as are the surrounds, a credit to the new owners. The new owners can not do enough for you, they are absolutely fantastic. A special mention to Kylie who has worked here for over 15 years, we had a lovely chat which is not very common nowadays as everyone just gets on with their work and all you get is a hello, not with Kylie she is down to earth and a pleasure to chat with. Keep up the great work you are doing and we shall see you next time in Mildura. ||Cheers, Ian & Wendy...
