Charming and authentically committed to their passion of making people happy and sharing the highest quality food.
A simply unexpected delight to devour their homemade pistachio and chocolate cannoli (most importantly including homemade casing). The ice-coffee was with real coffee, better quality ice-cream and fun semi-hollow hat-shaped ice-blocks that your tongue had fun sucking the last bits of delectable coffee and icecream from.
Because of the great “generosity of spirit “ and clear expertise the chef owner and wife team both oozed (on top of the great food) via making my next coffee “volcanic hot” and sharing with me the secret of heating the cup first (to avoid burning the beans) , giving me a wonderful local Mildura Living magazine (past edition) with a recipe of theirs that my son could make, other enriching conversations, and a fascinating SeVen Seeds coffee “ethical purchasing” booklet to stimulate my mind, I treated myself to another cappuccino coffee!
I learned that fortnightly Italian dinners are a “hidden secret” hopefully, now that travellers like me can now ring first and book into as a “special occasion treat”. (You may even be able to get degustation opportunity with matching local italian winery they have a relationship with if you ask and pay a little extra).
Not many of these family-run authentic opportunities left but this younger pair are fortunately still committed and firing.
Cost: great value: as they use the highest quality ingredients. My Solution: Eat out less (my sole eat-out afternoon tea on my travels) if on a budget or …. Save up :) as I will for...
Read moreHi I visit my best mate in Mildura annually and we usually go out to a few restaurants. This time he picked The Italian and we did a six course degustation. Paired with wine. Truth be told it ways one of the best dinning experiences I have ever had. Yes, you could get a place with a better fit out but you don’t go for the that so much than the food. The food was outstanding and that is understatement. They only do these dinners once a fortnight I believe and if you’re visiting Mildura I would book I advance and go. My only suggestion to the owners would be to consider some different wines as coming from SA and we have wonderful wine and I believe it could be the next step for this place if that’s even possible. Thank you for an amazing...
Read moreUnfortunately, it had a great start as the wonderful Japanese staff treating me so kindly and the food was delicious. Recently the food has been cold and the flatbread was a bit undercooked. More importantly, the manager who runs the place, treats me in an aloof, impersonal, snooty, and clipped way. I got a couple of people to listen to her to see if they agreed, and they were taken aback by her reaction to me. She is polite to others, checks up on them, ask them how their food is, but snatches my plate off the table after I finish my meal and delivers it unceremoniously before I start my meal. I don’t know what her problem is, but she needs to get over it because it’s...
