If your looking for a nice place out to take the family with gentle elevator style music in the background then don't dine here. If your looking for a solid old pub feed with pint of beer this place has got you covered. It's dirty old run down workers style pub that would have the toffee noses running from this place. I doubt you will ever find grey nomads dining here. The food service is slow but they do warn you before you order so it's a great excuse to sink some extra pints with out the handbrake saying you need to slow down because you're drinking to much tonight. I ordered the steak it was cooked to perfection at medium rare and was probably one of the best steaks I have had in along time AAA+++ in the pub feed area. So if you are the type of person that feels wearing jeans and flanno to wedding is putting on your best attire and love the soothing sound of slipknot in the back ground this is your pub!!! Get down there sink some pints and send a surf a turf to its final...

Only had the soup, menu is otherwise all burgers and parmis, nothing exciting or vaguely healthy. That’s ok, typical country pub. But soup took 45 min to arrive. Nice soup, but 45min! There’s a laminated sign on all the tables warning (after you order at the bar) that food can take up to an hour, so don’t be rude to the staff when you’re waiting. You’d have to assume it happens a lot if they’ve bothered doing a sign. There’s only two pubs in Mt Barker and they are the only places you can get dinner, so it’s not like there’s a lot of choice. At least if you like American sports there are two enormous TV’s in the main bar to stare at while you wait. Bar lady was very nice. But food, they need to pick...

I'd probably avoid the bistro for a meal, however this is Mt Barker and nothing is open for dinner. The pulled pork loaded fries was definitely not pulled pork, I'd say it was pork mince that was drowned in BBQ sauce. There was a chip shortage so only had wedges to serve it all meals. It was nothing special as far as food goes at this bar. The staff were friendly and nice which was nice to see.

Disappointed with all of Mt Barker, they could really deliver something...
