Had an awesome time here with my fiancée! After a bit of a drive around looking for somewhere open on ANZAC day, we came across this local little store. With not being locals to this area, we didn’t have many expectations coming into it, and as we walked in there were no customers, slightly worrying for a first time customer. However the owner came out and served us, and he was such a nice guy! Very sweet and patient with us as we decided what to choose from. We got the sausage roll, a pepper steak pie, a coffee, a custard tart and a raspberry lamington with cream, and they were all delicious! As we were sitting down to eat our food by hand, he offered us some cutlery as well, sure not that hard to do, but just nice to offer I think! He seemed like a really nice and genuine guy! Read moreDreadful place would not go back again. Wanted a piece of carrot cake refused to sell a slice BUT I could have the whole cake for $13 - I only wanted a slice with a coffee. Settled on an uninteresting custard tart and a sadly weak coffee that finally arrived after my custard tart had been eaten. Husband ordered an apricot slice said it was uninspired with no real apricot taste. The green tea he ordered came as a cup of lukewarm water and a teabag in the saucer - 15 years of living in the USA we had gotten used to that - BUT here in the land of knowing how to make tea well it was horrid. He also commented and pointed out that for the price there was not even a full cup of lukewarm water..... We should have gone with our gut feeling when we walked in and walked straight out and up the street to our usual place Millies of course. Lost two visitors to Mount Barker...

If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favour and stop by. Sometimes, a good bakery can feed more than just...
