Edible but not enjoyable. Saw sweet and sour pork on the menu, asked if they could do sweet and sour chicken. They said not. Either they had no chicken or I think more likely it was pre-made already, and after tasting the sweet and sour pork certainly did not taste fresh. Very small pieces of what was presumably pork covered in hard batter that dominated. No contrast of sweet and sour just bland old tasting sauce. I can make a very good sweet and sour dish and it only takes 5 minutes so why couldn’t they? Fried rice was average. Fried squid was below average and the tofu was not good. If I made those dishes at home like that I’d throw it in the bin rather than serve it to my family. I don’t understand how someone could take pride in sending out food like that. I recently ordered from Uncle Wong’s and was seriously disappointed. I had the laksa, which was a total letdown, oily, unbalanced in flavour, and oddly had egg in it. The chicken was dry and tough, not what you’d expect in a decent laksa.

I also tried the Hainan chicken, which came with no rice (??) and was full of fatty, gristly bits, nothing was crisped or rendered properly. It felt like a rushed, careless dish.

It’s a shame because Uncle Wong’s used to be good, I still remember how solid their crispy pork belly bowls were. Sadly, the quality has taken a nosedive.

Primarily because the price of our meals I felt to be reasonable, friendly delivery driver & very quick delivery. The ordering experience via the Menulog app was also pretty good.

What wasn’t great, was the quality of the food and portion size. We spent $57.20 for two blokes to have a good meal with lots of variety (expecting to have plenty leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch!)

What we actually found was very small portion sizes with really average quality ingredients.

I’m feeling left hungry and underwhelmed - but I’d be happy to try again and order different dishes and perhaps having a better experience!...
