I've been a loyal Zambreros customer for 5-6 years and have always been satisfied with the food and service. However, my recent visit to the Mount Barker location was disappointing.
I went in last night around 7 PM with my sister and friend. We ordered 3 burritos and 1 bowl, spending over $60. Given the time, it seemed they were using up the last of the ingredients for the day. Unfortunately, the rice in our burritos was excessively salty, the beans had a watery texture and were also salty, and the guacamole was inedible. My sister also noticed that the avocado in the guacamole was brown and found what seemed to be small avocado seeds in it. We immediately notified the staff, who apologized and made replacements with fresh ingredients.
While they did prepare a new batch of guacamole, they didn't change the rice. When we got home, the burritos were still very salty. Although not unbearable, the overwhelming saltiness overshadowed the flavors we had come to enjoy.
I want to commend the staff for their efforts; they were very apologetic and genuinely tried to resolve the issue. However, when you're spending over $60 on an order, you expect more.
With the recent price increases, it has been a tough decision to continue dining at Zambreros. Sadly, last night's experience has confirmed that the taste and quality has declined and combined with excessive prices. I won't be returning to the Mount...
Read moreI just ordered a few tacos and a burrito from here and there was a teenager who served me who did a very poor job. By this I mean he did not listen to what we were trying to ask him, he mashed all of the ingredients together without a care in the world, and as he was placing the finished tacos in the bag he tipped it upside down. When we opened it up and ate it the tacos had completely fallen apart and the burrito was not wrapped at all. Furthermore, as he was serving us he had a large bit of saliva dripping from his mouth which was especially off putting considering he was assembling our meals. To top it all off my mother had a Zambreros stamp card which was completely filled out, entitling her to a free burrito. However, the teenager demanded that she pay for guacamole which I would assume was a part of the free burrito. I payed $40 all together for my meal and feel like I should have at least had tacos which were assembled. As someone who works in customer service, I was appalled by the service of...

“I had a very disappointing experience with the burrito I ordered. The staff member was plump girl with black hair and preparing it didn’t seem to put much effort into making it properly—it was mostly rice with barely any beans, salad, or other ingredients. She only lightly touched the spoons to the other toppings without adding anything substantial.
I noticed the same issue with several burritos she prepared for other customers as well. For the price, this was not worth it at all. I hope the management addresses this and improves the quality and consistency of food preparation.”
