Unfair, sexist, and unkind treatment in Gelare Beauford St. I sent the facts and complaints in the Contact tool on the Gelare Website, and a private message on Instagram, and nobody answered. It is so sad and frustrating. On Friday 4th of July at the middle of the afternoon I went to ate in a Gelare Beaufort St, I bought a one chocolate pistachio waffle, when it arrived, I noticed that it had full of a Maple syrup, I asked the lady and she very aggressively replied to me that every waffle had a maple syrup, I told her that I can’t eat it and that it didn't say that in the menu description nor was it in the photo, she was so rude and just put aggressive the plate on my table and she back to the kitchen. So, I went to the man on the till to ask for a solution, and he yelled at me and told me that’s how they served it. The lady came back and put the picture/brochure on my face and told me that the syrup was under the ice cream in the picture (it was impossible to assume that there was something under the ice cream in the photo), and she said it wasn’t her problem if I couldn’t see it. The man yelled at me in a very sexist way, as if he were superior, and I told him to please don’t shut me up, and give me my money back, and he refused and yelled at me several times to leave his place. … I felt so intimidated. And then he told me in a threatening manner, “I’ll say this… Either you accept that I prepare one for you without syrup, or you leave.” Obviously, I didn’t want to stay in a place where a macho man treats a female customer poorly. So, this very rude man refused to give me my refund, but he also mistreated me, and I felt attacked. I’m very upset. The man was so sexist (machist) and showed no respect to me. I was alone, and he was so rude. I felt attacked, vulnerable, and robbed. So I told them that I was going to make a complaint to the company. When I left, the woman told me, “Well, since you filed a complaint, you won’t get your refund” That was threatening. it was the worst experience that I have ever had. They didn’t give me my money back, and they didn’t give me adequate food either.

I selected a single scoop of ice-cream which was inedible due to a chemical taste, before returning to the counter I asked 4 of the people I was dining with to also try the ice-cream to make sure it wasn't just my taste buds, all 4 confirmed it had a strange flavour and wasn't pleasing on the palette. I then proceeded to the counter where the "owner/manager" tried the same flavour and shook his head and walked back into his store room. The lady serving me then told me (under the direction of the manager) that there was nothing that they could do and that the ice-cream tasted fine (well it didn't!).... so I left my uneaten ice-cream on the counter. I will never be back mainly due to the poor customer service (the situation could have been handled so very differently) and also the off tasting ice-cream. There was long wait for the preparation of my order, and I had a very important appointment to attend to and didn’t realise it would take so long to create a basket with some Ice Cream. Before the man serving me could begin making my ice cream, I kindly told him not to make it, and kindly asked if I could please have my money back as I wasn’t able to wait. It was very hard to get his attention due to the screaming children in the store, the mother didn’t seemed phased. The man behind the counter soon became very rude and told me he was unable to give me a refund and told me that I could come back later today to receive what I ordered, and when I told him I lived too far away to return, he walked away and went into the back room, despite how ‘busy’ he claimed to be.
