We were here for dinner a few weeks ago and had very bad experience, specifically bad service. I walked in with a small child sleeping in my arms and I asked the man at the counter for a table for 2 adults and a child. "Booking?" was the respond... other than that, he continued to do what he was doing including picking up a new phone call and putting through a takeaway order. I was about to go but he said "follow me." So we followed him to the table just outside of the toilet. The restaurant was very noisy, we accepted it as it was a busy night. We ordered food for the two adults as we werent sure if the child will wake up to eat. Food was okay - curry rice was served warm with a lot of burnt bit of the rice, so as the tayaki beef. You would probably expect them to be hot rather than warm. Our child woke up and and we pressed the service bell to order more food. No one came to us and we were trying to get someone's attention, but we were just ignored. We decided to leave and get something else for the child. At the counter, the same man as we came in was at the counter. "Which table?" then went back to the screen, passed us the EFTPOS machine. Seriously, 5 words were spoken to us the twice we were up at the counter, not even bye?!?! A customer behind us walked out and spoke to us and asked about our experience at the restaurant, apparently the same man at the restaurant was rude to him... We won't go back...

Have been here several times but only because we are quite a large group with a few kids and it is conveniently located and there are dishes which suit the kids. Left to me I would avoid this place. Pros : Menu list quite extensive and varied to suit most tastes. Suits families as it is quite a spacious venue. Cons: Pretty average food and not for lovers of authentic and fresh Japanese cuisine and seafood. One gets the feeling food is mass produced. Service is average or less. Stressed and unwelcoming waitstaff who make it quite obvious that they want you to eat and leave as soon as you complete the meal. The food is served quite promptly but if you want to order anything else after that then you spot the look of impatience. Badly organised when I was last there. May have changed by now. One queue for takeaways ,patrons with bookings and waiting to be seated and those waiting to settle their bills ,with a very stressed person behind the counter coordinating it all - taking takeaway orders (which seems constant) taking cash and credit card payments from diners and takeaway customers and giving instructions to staff as to which tables to direct staff to . It was annoying on arrival to have to wait in this queue (with at least 5 people ) to be seated and again after the meal, to settle the bill. In summary , a convenient place to come to if you want just an average quick ...

Avoid this restaurant and find another. Hanami should already be closed for business and surely will be asap once the many loyal customers that have been enjoying dining at this restaurant for over 10 years. You may get lucky and leave satisfied if you do decide to chance your luck and dine once more but the restaurant is doing whatever it can to make as much money off customers before it's shut down. Read the reviews and if your happy with what the the poor reviews are letting you know and the regularity of unhappy, disrespected, health and safety compromised and one hospitalised customers then you might get a job for a week or two before doors closed. Teriyaki Bento was not a bento and was disgusting, garlic cloves like you would put in an all day roast How can you ruin steamed rice. Sushi roll chicken katshu 4 out of 10 were ok. Bits of bone, odd salad bits from other meal options. Small portions. Bento elsewhere honestly twice the size and 25% cheaper. Dianella shops grand promenade next to subway, can't dine in and was closing at 8pm when I looked to...

I went for the dinner service on a Thursday night. Hanami has a nice interior with dim lighting that makes it feel cozy. It's not too loud, making it a good place to go if you'd like to have a conversation. I recommend booking ahead of time as it was fully seated while we were there. The service was quite fast with our food only taking around 10 minutes to come out. The chicken was very well cooked, nice and succulent with a cripsy exterior. The takoyaki was some of the best I've had, super well done. The pricing is very fair for the quality of the food. We didnt try the dessert but I assume that would be nice too. I believe Hanami could accommodate children but I wouldn't call it a family friendly restaurant. I'd say the vibe is more suited to date nights and possibly business dinners. I don't think it's very wheelchair accessible either due to tight walkways and steps in the exterior to get to the front door. Parking may also be scarce so come 10 minutes early to secure a spot. All in all, I'd totally go again. Yummy food and good service!

This Japanese restaurant has been around for many years, although it has changed over time. We tried the lunch menu, which offered standard Japanese meals for one as well as dinner, which is a la carte. The taste was average and very generic rather than traditional authentic Japanese. Lunch serving sizes are generally decent for the price, but a la carte and dinner are less so. Although some dishes taste ok, for me the general food here doesn't encourage me to come back. Whilst the teriyaki and tempura flavour is ok, and sushi sizes are good for the area, I've had not very tender wagyu, boring and somewhat tasteless and not so crunchy katsu, and I don't leave feeling like I've had a great meal, let alone a meal you would get in Japan. Saying that, some dishes are OK and sushi and sashimi portions are good. It's quite a decent sized restaurant with indoor seating although it can still get quite busy, and service is OK. Food also comes out reasonably quickly.
